I decided to follow the rest of my peeps, and do my top 12 drama boyfriend list.

In response to [livejournal.com profile] cranberrysheep's Drama Boyfriend Playoffs, I listed my top 12 (well, technically it was 13, but who's counting) ideal drama boyfriends. And then [livejournal.com profile] ambergold and [livejournal.com profile] princess_dexter made more detailed posts, and well, I decided to as well!

And because I wanted pictures (and since a lot of my choices are from dramas I watched ages ago, when I didn't know how to screencap) I didn't have any ready to use caps, so I spent awhile going through my big ol' folder of drama discs. But this also meant I spent awhile rewatching my favorite parts of various dramas. But I'll get to that later.

Amusingly about half are from twdramas. Apparently I still love me some Taiwanese men after all ;P. Oddly, a lot of my choices are from unpopular dramas as well. And I totally have actor repeat offenders (three of them, actually!)

Anyway, list! (Note, the frst 5 aren't really in any concrete order. I love them all too much to choose between them)

But this piece of news was too good to pass up.

Boys Over Flowers hits Taiwan… not hard

I could have called this (though I didn't... So I guess I suck?)

Taiwan had the first drama interpretations of HYD, and it was huge. HUGE. Meteor Garden was basically the premier twdrama. Of course they had dramas before that, but it was MG that kicked off the craze. The show was huge, it spawned F4, who are also huge. It kicked off many a well known person's career. It was known throughout Asia.

Because of the national sentiment of Taiwan, the exposure caused by MG probably brought Taiwan a lot of happiness. To actually be recognized for it's pop culture and influence over the Asian market was probably an amazing thing for a place that most foreign people don't even consider a country.

I don't think it's that they dislike Boys Over Flowers, or Korea, but rather they prefer their own version. I wish I knew how HYD performed in Taiwan...

I also wish I could study the impact of twdramas on how Taiwan is viewed in Asia. That would be an interesting study topic.

OMG has anyone else seen this?!

Apparently they're doing some sort of 5-years later music video thing for Boys Before Flowers! I'm weirdly more excited for the Ga Eul / Yi Jung storyline than I am for the Jan Di / Jun Pyo one. And it looks like Woo Bin might actually get a girl!

I guess it's going to be released on 28Apr09.

(As seen on Drama Beans)

Is anyone else LOLing their asses off over how both Daniel Henney and Dannis Oh are both totally Americans (half Korean), who don't really speak Korean. Yet they are totally famous in Korea?! Don't get me wrong, I love them both, but man, SO FUNNY! I don't think I'll ever get over that video of Daniel Henney being accosted by many many MANY women in the streets of Seoul.

ALSO. I have brought you badfic today. But this... THIS is good fic;
"Ga Eul barely registered the words as she tried desperately to erase the image of a shirtless Yi Jung out of her mind."

Okay, so I finally finished BBF, and honestly, I loved the damn show. Really. Loved it. And there is no time when I won't love it.

The end wasn't as satisfying as I would have liked, though it was better than the ending to Meteor Garden. The time jump here was canon, so I didn't mind it as much. It was actually nice to see their relationship after four years. No other version has done it (not even the manga, unless you count that special chapter that took place 2 or so years later!), so it was nice to see that. It was also nice to see that Ji Hoo became a doctor. In all the other versions he was kinda directionless.

And squee! The Ga Eul / Yi Jung ending was totally sweet!

I totally want more! This of course means I am HIGHLY tempted to rewatch HYD and MG. Might not come to pass though, as it would mean finding the discs.

And was it me, or was Yu Mi a ton bitchier than any other versions? I HATED her.
uisceros: (Joe Cheng)
I'm trying not to make comments on / cap BBF, because everyone has probably already watched them.

BUT that dude totally took out Jun Pyo Taiwanese-style! (Randomly hit by cars = MAJOR Twdrama cliche)
uisceros: (GD B&W)
I'm posting a ton today...

BUT when Yi Jung sucks the blood off of Sara-chick's finger, was anyone else STRONGLY reminded of Mars? I only remember because it was that scene where I was like "Ohhhhh I see why everyone loves him" regarding Zai Zai.

When Jun Pyo told Jan Di he loved her, I seriously, LITERALLY squealed and flailed about for a few minutes, because, WOW SO CUTE!

I like how they totally glossed over the sleeping arrangements...

Um. I think JP could very easily break that door down. The least they could have done is make it look sturdier!

Gah! *fangirls* I never ever though I'd love this boy so much.

Like I've said, like, 8 times before. I'm a Jun Pyo / Jan Di shipper. But OMG Ji Hoo! They're so cute together! With the car washing! So cute!

Also, Woo Bin is awesome.

*sigh* Girl pulled a Risa-chan in Love Com, falling asleep during a confession of love! Poor Ji Hoo just can't catch a break.

How did Ga Eul know it was a building. Sara-chick didn't mention it, and the letter got thrown away. Maybe GE's psychic. Either that or she's read the manga. Does she know what happens AFTER in the manga?

Speaking of which, one of my favorite things about Jan Di is that she isn't against Ga Eul and Yi Jung's relationship. She was nervous at first, but then realized that Ga Eul really does love Yi Jung, and let it be.

Squee! The return of Woo Bin's english!

The zoo! And Jun Pyo getting jealous of a little kid, and then playing with him! I loved this scene in Meteor Garden! The damn thing is too cute!
uisceros: (Mei-chan)
I finished Mei-chan, and I'm so sad it's over!

But I'm SO satisfied with the ending. Thank you, jdrama for not screwing it up!

Plus, I honestly loved ALL the characters, even the evil ones (they were crazy, not just bitchy. I hate bitchiness [see Full House], but I love craziness).

At the end there was a preview for Atashinchi no Danshi, and now I really want to see that.

God that was a good drama! I might post some more random picspam because OMG Hiro! And Nana (and her leeegs)!!

But next; BBF ep 22!! It's not available for download yet, but youtube is up, which is nearly as good!
uisceros: (Yi Jung being awesome (as always))
*flails about with extreme Bummie-love!!*

In other news, I'm wicked bored at work currently, with nothing to do. Yay.

And I'm drinking possibly the sweetest tea ever. I basically just poured sugar in it until the sugar container was empty. It's kinda disgusting, but I'm still drinking it...

Today is really busy, tv wise. HIMYM on at 8:30. Mei-chan episodes 9 and 10. BOYS BEFORE FLOWERS EPISODE 22. And maybe something else. If I feel like it.

Last night I thought to myself; "I should really start watching more jdramas"

I then stopped, and thought that statement out.

Because I'm currently (actively) watching three jdramas, and two animes.

I like jdramas a LOT. Mostly because they're short. But also because they're funny, and sad, and just everything good. My only complaint; distinct lack of intimacy. But I can deal with that as long as I have my twdramas.

My Queen episode 11 is up!!!! And the first part had been mostly subbed!! God I love that drama!

And tomorrow; BBF episode 22! I can't wait for the shippiness!
uisceros: (Jan Di and Ji Hoo)
I watched episode 21 of BBF (and liveblogged, but it's not ready), and then read a preview for the next episode...

spoilers maybe? )
uisceros: (Jun Pyo getting beat down)
So yes. Watched episodes 19 and 20 of Boys Before Flowers. I didn't do a full liveblog, but I did write down some thoughts. And took some caps! So yes...

A lot of my thoughts don't make a whole hell of a lot of sense... And I only started notes for episode 19 about halfway through...

Thoughts from BBF episodes 19 and 20. Plus, screencaps! )

I just started to watch episode 21, and I just can't. Not right now at least. Episode 20 was so good and sweet, and in the first freaking minute of episode 21, in walks in Jae Kyung AND evil Mom while Jun Pyo and Jan Di are finally getting somewhere! God, the agony!
uisceros: (Defeated Queen)
Okay, several things;

1. Finished My Boss, My Hero. At this time, I honestly think Nagase may have usurped Shun-kun as my favorite j-actor (I think they're tied), which is HUGE. Shun was not only my first Japanese actor crush, but my first Asian drama-boy crush in general. But OMG Nagase. Whenever I see him I freak out a little bit. It's kinda embarrassing, the amount of girlish squee I let fly when I see him.

So I needed another picspam.
Last episode of My Boss My Hero )

Would it be bad if I flew to Japan, and spent all my energy stalking him? Because, honestly, I'm THIIIS close.

2. Haagen Dazs' in Taiwan are a whole hell of a lot nicer than they are in the US.

And while the whole engagement ring in the dessert thing is kinda cliche, I still melted quite a bit during that scene in My Queen (not a spoiler, it was a flashback).

See! Even the ice cream is fancier at Taiwanese Haagen Dazs'! That one is called a "Love Poem". See the Shakespeare poem under the ice cream? Can't make out which one it is.

3. I (finally) finished watched episode 19 and 20 of BBF. I'm going to post my thoughts in a separate post, because this one is getting long.

4. I'm not sure what my next drama will be. I kinda want to watch Dal Ja's Spring, but I also want to watch something with Nagase in it... Plus, I need to finish The Rose. And Black & White starts soon, so I want something relatively quick... Meh! Decisions decisions. Plus I just got a HUGE book on Taiwanese history that I want to read...

Why I'm irritated by the recent responses to BBF )

I haven't really answered comments in a long time. Goal for tonight; clean out inbox. So if you randomly get comments from me tonight for stuff that is weeks old, that's why.
uisceros: (Yi Jung)
I know it's been said a million times already, but Woo Bin and Yi Jung... slash much?! God, this drama is really handing out the gay subtext. I approve. Highly.

I did a small liveblog. No caps this time (I'm exhausted today, I doubt I could do them if I wanted). I only took 9 caps, and basically all of them are of Ji Hoo sleeping (one of of Jun Pyo sleeping!), so I didn't bother loading them. Okay, I lied. I uploaded a few...

Liveblog for BBF episode 18 )

I don't know about everyone else, but I'm still highly enjoying BBF. I'm easy; as long as something entertains me, I'm happy. And dear God is this entertaining!

And Oh! I FINALLY got my Big Bang posters today. One is totally hanging next to my bed, which is dorky, but it was a free space, so whatever. It's hilarious, seeing these huge graphic art posters next to my other stuff
In case, you know, you ever wanted to know what kinda artwork I have )
uisceros: (Joseph)
So sad...

Boys Before Flowers Stunned by Suicide; Jung Ja Yeon Last Phonecall, “I Want To Die”

BBF is really seeming cursed these days.

I don't understand why there are these rashes of Korean suicides. I admit, I don't know much about Korean cultural identity, but it always seems like they're killing themselves.
uisceros: (Ji Hoo + violin = ♥)
I'm still feeling kinda crappy, so I'm not going to bother with a lot of stuff today. I didn't get my package from YesAsia (WHHHY?!!), and I'm exhausted. I think my marathon 4 day headache is finally winding down, but it's left me exhausted.

I watched BBF episode 17, and DIDN'T LIVEBLOG. It was harder than I imagined it would be.

Well, I DID liveblog, but only slightly. Only a few notes, and while I seriously scaled back my capping, I still managed to end up with 31 of them. It's practically unconscious now.

Anyway, I have 8 caps that I REALLY loved, so I needed to share!

This scene KILLED me.

Not really a liveblog, mostly just thoughts, and a few caps )

I felt bad for poor Woo Bin. He only got like, one scene in this episode. MORE AKIRA PLEASE! KTHX!

I need a new drama to watch. One that is hard subbed so I can watch it on my ipod. I should check my massive drama reserves....
uisceros: (Jiro)
So, I uploaded 50 screencaps for this drama. And that was AFTER I cut them down... twice. Obviously I have a screencaping problem. Regardless, I thought almost all of them were important to share, so yeeess.

Btw, the liveblog part might not make a lot of sense. And it's more fangirlish than usual... Also, fair warning, I really like Jae Kyung. I've always liked Shigeru.

Liveblog for BBF episode 16 )

SCREENCAPS! )

I'm REALLY tired right now, so I can't really explain WHY I love this episode, I just do, intensely. Ji Hoo = ♥! Jun Pyo = ♥! Yi Jung = ♥! Woo Bin = ♥!
uisceros: (Jun Pyo getting beat down by a girl)
Boys Before Flowers is like, the most cracktastic thing I've ever seen in my life.

I wrote a liveblog, and took 150 caps. I'm not going to post it tonight though, because I just started a new series, and I really want to see the next episode. I'll probably post it tomorrow.

That being said, I do have a few general comments, and a few screencaps! Most of my caps are of people being surprised or disgusted. Apparently that was a theme in this episode.
