I've been watching Mischievous Kiss (admittedly slowly - I'm waiting for the Haru2Haru subs, instead of streaming), and I quite like it. That didn't come as a surprise to me in the least. I love Hyun Joong a ton, the girl strongly reminds me of Yoon Eun Hye (which is always a good thing), and I'm also quite fond of the storyline.

I mean, technically it was ISWAK that brought me to Taiwan. ISWAK was my first Taiwanese drama, and after getting past my initial shock at the production quality versus Japanese dramas, I was utterly hooked. A lot of my early views of Taiwan and the Taiwanese people came from what I saw in ISWAK. I have strong attachments to that drama.

Anyway, yesterday, after watching MK episodes 4-9 raw, I decided to rewatch ISWAK. As it turns out, Mischievous Kiss is following the same plotline extremely closely. They've cut out some things, of course (like Xiang Qin's night blindness. I liked that plotpoint, but I suppose unless they plan on adapting the whole manga, it won't make much difference in the end), but on the whole it's pretty damn close.

Which makes me question why people who didn't like the Taiwanese version at all are liking the Korean version so much. They're SO close. Ha Ni is a bit less dumb that Xiang Qin was, Seung Jo is a bit less mean than Zhi Shu, and Joon Gu a bit less stalkery than Ah Jin. Otherwise, the characters are basically the same. The plotline is cut down a bit in the Korean version (admittedly making for less embarrassment for Ha Ni, and less time spent on her character devoting her life entirely to Seung Jo), but otherwise they're the same. There are tone differences, naturally, but is that really the reason people seem to like the Korean one and hate the Taiwanese one? The old standby excuse of not liking Xiang Qin's character doesn't seem to apply to me here, because the characters (to me at least) are pretty identical. I don't get it. But then, I very rarely do.

Does Seung Jo's little brother remind anyone else of Kim Bum? Just me? Okay.

That aside, I random!capped.

BEST. MOMENT. IN. A. DRAMA. EVER. (As an aside, I loved watching this, because I could understand some. I stopped the show many times to read the Chinese subs too. 對, 對啊 indeed. Taiwanese dramas make a lot more sense sometimes when you can make sense of what they're saying. Translations just don't cut it sometimes.)

I've recently been struck by an urge to do some redesigning of my bedroom. And because I have to clean/reorganized stuff anyways because [livejournal.com profile] sn0tcat is coming in a few weeks, I figured now's the time to do it!

As it stands, my room is green on green on pink. I'm tired of green. So. Tired. My taste has rapidly changed the last few years - it's gotten a lot more modern, with cleaner colors.

So this is what I'm thinking;
brainstorming... )

Other news - I'm in the middle of episode 1 of Mischievous Kiss. It's, uh, been a long time since I've seen ISWAK (like, 2 years), so I'm having trouble remember the concept... I know Xiang Qin's house collapsed in a earthquake... I wonder if something similar will happen. Does Korea even have (regular/dangerous/big) earthquakes? What happened in the original manga? Did I ever read that? I think I'm getting confused with Akuma de Souro which is another Japanese manga that got produced as a Taiwanese drama - I definitely read that manga.

So far, the main girl character seems a lot less stupid than Xiang Qin (but this IS just the beginning). I have to say, Joongie's cold indifferent act is good. Those are the types of roles he's good at. But then, we've never really seen him in anything else, have we. So he MIGHT be amazing at seriously dramatic roles, and we'd never know.

The guy who plays the Ah Jin character is cracking me up. Rockabilly hair? Really?

Anyway, so far so good. But I can't possibly imagine how they'll fit the whole story into 16 episodes when ISWAK was twice that. Then again, the Japanese version was only 9 episodes, so whatevs.

(I totally don't have an ISWAK tag! It WAS only my third drama, before I did this blog publically, but you'd think I'd have talked about it since then...)

I decided to follow the rest of my peeps, and do my top 12 drama boyfriend list.

In response to [livejournal.com profile] cranberrysheep's Drama Boyfriend Playoffs, I listed my top 12 (well, technically it was 13, but who's counting) ideal drama boyfriends. And then [livejournal.com profile] ambergold and [livejournal.com profile] princess_dexter made more detailed posts, and well, I decided to as well!

And because I wanted pictures (and since a lot of my choices are from dramas I watched ages ago, when I didn't know how to screencap) I didn't have any ready to use caps, so I spent awhile going through my big ol' folder of drama discs. But this also meant I spent awhile rewatching my favorite parts of various dramas. But I'll get to that later.

Amusingly about half are from twdramas. Apparently I still love me some Taiwanese men after all ;P. Oddly, a lot of my choices are from unpopular dramas as well. And I totally have actor repeat offenders (three of them, actually!)

Anyway, list! (Note, the frst 5 aren't really in any concrete order. I love them all too much to choose between them)

Saw this on allkpop today... Where Hyun Joongie decides to get a little shirtless during SS501's first concert in Seoul. I'd say the first minute is not to be missed. More shirtlessness occurs at 6:00, and full shirtlessness occurs at ~7:15.

If there's one thing I've noticed about Hyun Joongie, it's that he's not afraid of giving the fangirls what they want. Repeatedly.
uisceros: (Ji Hoo + violin = ♥)
I'm going to try to do comment replies tonight, and I hope to finish a lot. I'm afraid I might not get to a lot of them though. Stupid gym has caused me some serious, unnatural pain.

But anyway, SO CUTE!

Hyun Joongie! He's too cute! How did I not know they had twitters?! Maybe because since establishing my twitter page, I've not looked at it since. I apparently can only blog so much ;D But Sookyeong posted a list of K-celebrity twitters, and I'm enjoying looking at them all.

Like, Lee Jun Ki writes in english. What a super adorable dork!

I hope these accounts are real, because TOO CUTE.

"Do you want to win a date with Kim Hyun Joong?"

OMG I laughed SO MUCH when I read this. I love Hyun Joong, and I'm pretty crazy. But I am nowhere crazy enough to buy loads and loads of chickens just so I can win a date with him (plus, you know, I'm vegetarian... but even if it was a bunch of tofu you had to buy I wouldn't do it)!

I get pretty fanatical about things sometimes, but occasionally I wonder about people. Like, I read a story where in Taiwan, fans of Alan Luo's went to this thing where they got to pretend marrying him, and then took fake wedding portraits. It was bizarre to say the least. That's going a little too far for me. Like, I'd LOVE to go to a fanmeeting, but when you're pretending to marry the dude, that's just a little weird. Course who am I to judge anyone? ;D

That being said, it's a SUPER SMART marketing plan there for the chicken company!

Toly Moly / Facial Blotter Pack B [Hyun Joong]

Because, naturally, the first name I think of when I want to blot my face is Kim Hyun Joong.

If you couldn't tell, I'm pretty bored today...

WOW. Um. WOW. Now I know why I buy things from YesAsia, despite them being a bit more expensive. I just tried to place an order from star-thots, and the shipping was $50. That's nearly the price of the order! Jeez. I guess I don't need the extra poster that badly. Though I do really want to know what the hell a "Can Badge Set" is...

I wonder why YesAsia doesn't offer the package deals; everywhere else I've looked, the posters/etc come with the DVD/CDs. Not with YesAsia. *grumbles*
uisceros: (Jun Pyo)
Okay, so I finally finished BBF, and honestly, I loved the damn show. Really. Loved it. And there is no time when I won't love it.

The end wasn't as satisfying as I would have liked, though it was better than the ending to Meteor Garden. The time jump here was canon, so I didn't mind it as much. It was actually nice to see their relationship after four years. No other version has done it (not even the manga, unless you count that special chapter that took place 2 or so years later!), so it was nice to see that. It was also nice to see that Ji Hoo became a doctor. In all the other versions he was kinda directionless.

And squee! The Ga Eul / Yi Jung ending was totally sweet!

I totally want more! This of course means I am HIGHLY tempted to rewatch HYD and MG. Might not come to pass though, as it would mean finding the discs.

And was it me, or was Yu Mi a ton bitchier than any other versions? I HATED her.
uisceros: (GD B&W)
I'm posting a ton today...

BUT when Yi Jung sucks the blood off of Sara-chick's finger, was anyone else STRONGLY reminded of Mars? I only remember because it was that scene where I was like "Ohhhhh I see why everyone loves him" regarding Zai Zai.

When Jun Pyo told Jan Di he loved her, I seriously, LITERALLY squealed and flailed about for a few minutes, because, WOW SO CUTE!

I like how they totally glossed over the sleeping arrangements...

Um. I think JP could very easily break that door down. The least they could have done is make it look sturdier!

Gah! *fangirls* I never ever though I'd love this boy so much.

Like I've said, like, 8 times before. I'm a Jun Pyo / Jan Di shipper. But OMG Ji Hoo! They're so cute together! With the car washing! So cute!

Also, Woo Bin is awesome.

*sigh* Girl pulled a Risa-chan in Love Com, falling asleep during a confession of love! Poor Ji Hoo just can't catch a break.

How did Ga Eul know it was a building. Sara-chick didn't mention it, and the letter got thrown away. Maybe GE's psychic. Either that or she's read the manga. Does she know what happens AFTER in the manga?

Speaking of which, one of my favorite things about Jan Di is that she isn't against Ga Eul and Yi Jung's relationship. She was nervous at first, but then realized that Ga Eul really does love Yi Jung, and let it be.

Squee! The return of Woo Bin's english!

The zoo! And Jun Pyo getting jealous of a little kid, and then playing with him! I loved this scene in Meteor Garden! The damn thing is too cute!
uisceros: (Daniel - Emotion Sickness)
Um, I just saw this on [livejournal.com profile] hydkorea, and nearly died of the hotness.

Hyun Joong playing guitar WITH HIS TONGUE, and the singing Radiohead's "Creep", a song I have loved since it first came out in '92.

It's weird for me that Hyun Joong wanted to be a rocker, since he's in a pop band. But God, he's so badass in that video, which is so hot.

I know I listen to most hip hop/pop stuff now, but my favorite music is rock; alternative rock, grunge, and post grunge. Anything with strong guitar presence, and angsty lyrics makes me happy.

Thus, I can honestly say, seeing this video had increased my love for Hyun Joong drastically. I love him quite desperately now. Too bad he's still too young (I'm 2 1/2 years older, it's not a huge difference).

Also, I laughed like a dork when Hyun Joong said "Fucking"....
uisceros: (Jun Pyo getting beat down)
So yes. Watched episodes 19 and 20 of Boys Before Flowers. I didn't do a full liveblog, but I did write down some thoughts. And took some caps! So yes...

A lot of my thoughts don't make a whole hell of a lot of sense... And I only started notes for episode 19 about halfway through...

Thoughts from BBF episodes 19 and 20. Plus, screencaps! )

I just started to watch episode 21, and I just can't. Not right now at least. Episode 20 was so good and sweet, and in the first freaking minute of episode 21, in walks in Jae Kyung AND evil Mom while Jun Pyo and Jan Di are finally getting somewhere! God, the agony!
uisceros: (Yi Jung)
I know it's been said a million times already, but Woo Bin and Yi Jung... slash much?! God, this drama is really handing out the gay subtext. I approve. Highly.

I did a small liveblog. No caps this time (I'm exhausted today, I doubt I could do them if I wanted). I only took 9 caps, and basically all of them are of Ji Hoo sleeping (one of of Jun Pyo sleeping!), so I didn't bother loading them. Okay, I lied. I uploaded a few...

Liveblog for BBF episode 18 )

I don't know about everyone else, but I'm still highly enjoying BBF. I'm easy; as long as something entertains me, I'm happy. And dear God is this entertaining!

And Oh! I FINALLY got my Big Bang posters today. One is totally hanging next to my bed, which is dorky, but it was a free space, so whatever. It's hilarious, seeing these huge graphic art posters next to my other stuff
In case, you know, you ever wanted to know what kinda artwork I have )
uisceros: (Ji Hoo + violin = ♥)
I'm still feeling kinda crappy, so I'm not going to bother with a lot of stuff today. I didn't get my package from YesAsia (WHHHY?!!), and I'm exhausted. I think my marathon 4 day headache is finally winding down, but it's left me exhausted.

I watched BBF episode 17, and DIDN'T LIVEBLOG. It was harder than I imagined it would be.

Well, I DID liveblog, but only slightly. Only a few notes, and while I seriously scaled back my capping, I still managed to end up with 31 of them. It's practically unconscious now.

Anyway, I have 8 caps that I REALLY loved, so I needed to share!

This scene KILLED me.

Not really a liveblog, mostly just thoughts, and a few caps )

I felt bad for poor Woo Bin. He only got like, one scene in this episode. MORE AKIRA PLEASE! KTHX!

I need a new drama to watch. One that is hard subbed so I can watch it on my ipod. I should check my massive drama reserves....
uisceros: (Zai Zai in black)
I should just stay away from the asianfanatics news section. I always end up spending LOADS of time on there... some current news stories that interested me (Taiwanese and Korean);

Stories about Vanness Wu, Big Bang, Wu Zun, Jiro Wang, Lee Min Ho, hot boy lists, Chinese F4, Kim Bum, Superstar Express, Rainie, and Zai Zai )

Also, the cast of BBF must be cursed when it comes to car accidents. Bummie's gotten in two already, Kim Hyun Joong and Kim Joon each had one on the same day, Lee Min Ho was previously injured (badly) from a car accident, and just today Koo Sun Hye had a car accident! Thankfully in most cases, the injuries were non existent or minor (save for Min Ho's). But it makes me wonder, are car accidents in Korea THAT prevalent? I know Taiwan is notorious for car accidents (that's why a lot of times deaths in dramas are due to car accidents), but I didn't know Korea was as well. And really, shouldn't they be hiring better drivers to escort these major stars?
uisceros: (Jiro)
So, I uploaded 50 screencaps for this drama. And that was AFTER I cut them down... twice. Obviously I have a screencaping problem. Regardless, I thought almost all of them were important to share, so yeeess.

Btw, the liveblog part might not make a lot of sense. And it's more fangirlish than usual... Also, fair warning, I really like Jae Kyung. I've always liked Shigeru.

Liveblog for BBF episode 16 )

I'm REALLY tired right now, so I can't really explain WHY I love this episode, I just do, intensely. Ji Hoo = ♥! Jun Pyo = ♥! Yi Jung = ♥! Woo Bin = ♥!
uisceros: (Jun Pyo getting beat down by a girl)
Boys Before Flowers is like, the most cracktastic thing I've ever seen in my life.

I wrote a liveblog, and took 150 caps. I'm not going to post it tonight though, because I just started a new series, and I really want to see the next episode. I'll probably post it tomorrow.

That being said, I do have a few general comments, and a few screencaps! Most of my caps are of people being surprised or disgusted. Apparently that was a theme in this episode.

I youtubed BBF ep 15, as I can't seem to get the download for the first part (via arashi.vox) to work. I have all the other parts... I'm hoping it'll work soon.

Anyway, I liveblogged (Despite the time it takes, I can't stop liveblogging!), but without pics. Well, I did get two (care of the print screen function!)

BBF episode 15 liveblog )

The previews confuse me! Why does Jun Pyo have straight hair? What's with Yi Jung and Ga Eul? Did Ji Hoo finally figure out old crabby doctor man is his grandfather? Can't WAIT until tomorrow!

In other news, my Big Bang posters shipped out today (Tomorrow, technically. Oh times zones, how you confuse me)!!
uisceros: (Vanness)
I'm dead tired tonight. I watched Lost (OMG LOST!! I love that show so much. It's like, the crazier it gets, the more I love it), and then finished reading the scanlations for Boku wa Imouto ni Koi wo Suru (Well, up to volume 5. The rest isn't translated yet). And then, I randomly found out that there was an OVA related to the series, so of course I downloaded it, and watched it. I really freaking adore Boku wa Imouto ni Koi wo Suru. More than I probably should. I heard about a similar story, Koi Kaze, but I don't know if I'll be able to read it. I'm not to fond of the mangaka's style.

Anyone seen this? I thought it was hilarious, and very well done. It's like a perfect mishmash of Korean BBF angst, and totally awesome gay Taiwanese movies/dramas. Plus, Bummie!! So cute!

Anyway, I'm going to sleep 'early' tonight (if you consider 1 am early... Earlier than normal, I suppose). So no dramas at all today (unless you count the bits of Hello My Teacher I caught while trying to find the Gong Yoo swim trunks picture (for my future reference, since I'm sure I'm going to want to show people that scene again; episode 13, minute 54)...
uisceros: (Jan Di and Ji Hoo)
I'm youtubing BBF 14, so I can't really cap it, or do a full entry. But a few thoughts;

Thoughts, BBF ep 14 )

Hmmmm... that's not obvious foreshadowing AT ALL (yes, I'm aware it's meant to be obvious. I just like being as sarcastic as possible). I CAN'T WAIT until next episode!

Random RL story )
uisceros: (Ji Hoo + violin = ♥)
I'd heard bad things about episode 13 (that it was boring, that it was depressing, etc), but I think it might be my second favorite episode so far (after episode 12). We all know this happens, it's not a shock when he ignores her.

As much as I live for Jun Pyo, I love this episode for the lack of him. He's so larger than life, he blocks out everyone else around him. We don't get to see just how amazing the F3 are when he's in the vicinity (Lee Min Ho = scene stealer!). I love this episode because of the F3. Because they rallied around Jan Di, they showed her support they've never show anyone else. It was amazing, and heartbreaking, and I quite desperately loved it.

Also, Han Jae Kyung (Shigeru!!) seems like she's going to be as awesome as she should be. It's REALLY hard to hate Shigeru. I've never been able to. Jae Kyung seems like she's going to be the same; incredibly annoying at times, but so sweet and earnest that you can't help but love her. Plus, Lee Min Jung looks like Shigeru should... it's the hair. Shigeru should ALWAYS have short hair.

Oh, and there was totally some Mandarin-speakage (* see later comment!), which makes anything better! (I LOOOVE Mandarin)

Not really a liveblog, but whatever, BBF episode 13 )
