1) If you'd like to play along, reply to this post and I'll assign you a letter.
2) You then list (and upload, if you feel like it) 5 (or 6 or 7) songs that start with that letter (feel free to explain why you chose the songs).
3) Then, as I'm doing here, you'll post the list to your journal with the instructions.

Again, literally nothing to do at work (I'm a fast worker, sue me). Soooo... meme time!

This is actually a kpop meme, but I'm making it a cpop meme. Because recently, I've been feeling the cpop love more.

Cpop meme... with pictures! )

2NE1 is going to be debuting in the US. I'm excited. I think they'll do well. The type of music they produce is far more conducive to American audiences. I mean, no offense to the Wonder Girls, but saccharine girl group pop hasn't been popular here since the early 00's. 2NE1's more edgy/sexy style and music is better suited to an American audience. Dara will REALLY have to cut down on all the aegyo though. America does not like cutesy that much. To the extent that even I (who haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaates aegyo and overly cute things - looking at you, Hello Kitty) have tastes that run far more in the cute range than most people.

YG is really pushing the international sell recently. YB's twitter and facebook pages, the international album, and now 2NE1's American debut... It makes me happy that the international fans are being recognized. And it's one step closer to a Big Bang, or YG family tour in the US. Because I SO need one. As you might imagine, it gets expensive flying to Korea to see BB.

There are so many releases coming out soon. Big Show 2010 DVD (I'm going to see if I'm in it somewhere...), YB's international album, Beautiful Hangover (I'm still going to buy it, despite not liking the song), and 2NE1's full album.

In other news... well, there is no other news, honestly. Which is why I've been MIA recently. I've been restless and depressed, which has manifested itself in me watching lots of (American) TV, and buying makeup. I buy makeup when I'm depressed. So yeah...

And because I'm bored; One Word Meme )

And now for the rest of it!

Day 16: Your favorite k-pop lyric (and a translation)

"한순간에 모든 걸 앗아갈래 poker game
그럴수록 난 이성을 되찾아 pokerface"
("I snatch everything away like a poker game
Then I want to regain my power back with my pokerface")

My reasoning? Because EVERY SINGLE TIME I hear it, I think TOP's saying "fuck a game" and "fuck a face". I have to say, it would be AWESOME if he was really saying "fuck a face".

I started this WEEKS ago, but only now got around to posting it...

Day 1: Your favorite k-pop guy group

Well that was obvious, wasn't it? No other boyband even comes close.

Day 2: Your favorite k-pop girl group

It's a tie between 2NE1 and SNSD (though, when pressed, I'd have to go with my YG-bias, and say 2NE1). I like 2NE1 for their music and style. Though I have to say, a huge part of my love for them is my love for Park Bom, who I wish I was best friends with (and it KILLS ME that she went to school in Boston, because I was RIGHT THERE!). SNSD because their music is fun and poppy, and I'm consistently amazed by their legs.

I'm SO behind! I've been strangely busy, getting ready for Package Exchange, trying to organize my life, etc.
Thanks for all your comments (especially on the cup post). I'll reply to them soon, promise!

But right now I have to go to sleep, because I have to wake up early to go to the city. So quickly --->

I'm behind on the music meme, so it's another twofer.
A song you can dance to, and a song that makes you fall asleep )
uisceros: (Top-Ri)
This is a bit TMI-gross (about periods), so I'm going to cut it...
Question! )

A song you know all the words to
(I know the lyrics to most songs by heart (I memorize things set to music easily). But I'll pick something impressive. My mom loved Billy Joel, and as a result I grew up listening to his songs. However I did not much like this song when I was a kid. Probably because I didn't know what the hell he was talking about. My favorite part of the song is the "Belgians in the Congo" part, because it reminds me of Heart of Darkness, one of my favorite books)

I have a potential lead on a job that I am qualified for. It's still biotech (which I wanted to get away from), but it's a much better role. I'm also applying for a plethora of biology jobs all over the place. Including at least one in Cuba (why not?), and one in China. I have decided to become more steadfast in my job search. Which is hard, because it makes me depressed, but I am trying, damn it!

Tomorrow a bunch of shows start. I am excited, especially since American shows are ending their seasons.

I forgot to do it yesterday, so it's a two-fer today.

Day 6 - A song that reminds you of somewhere
(According to popular lore, Dave Matthews wrote this song at my old college in Virginia. His wife attended there, and some of the lyrics reference the school. Dave performed free concerts there, once upon a time, alas none during my tenure at the school)

A song that reminds you of a certain event )

I forgot until now...

Day 5 - Song that reminds you of someone
(This one was really hard for me, simply because I tend to associate everyone by songs/sounds. I picked this one because I love that I will ALWAYS associate this song with my dad. When I was a kid my mom used to sing to me a lot, and this was one of the songs she liked to sing [we're pretty Irish, which incidentally means I know a bunch of random Irish songs]. My dad used to joke with me about the part when the song goes "H, A, double-R, I, G, A, N - you see". He'd substitute the letter U and C in, so at the end he'd sing "Harriganuc".)

Today was a strange-ass day. First off, it's disgustingly hot. I know the mid-90's (around 34 degrees Celcius) is normal for some people, but NOT FOR ME. All the heat tolerance I built up in Taiwan seems to have disappeared. On the bright side, it was an utterly gorgeous day. I went to the ocean.

I love the ocean very much, so much so that I hope to never live in a landlocked area. When I lived in Taiwan, one of the biggest draws about Danshui was that it was on the water. This is one of my favorite places in the world.

Other than that, I've cried FOUR TIMES today. Twice during my epic rewatch of LOST, once during Dancing with the Stars (yay Nicole and Derek!), and once during Glee. I never cry during TV. A week or so ago I cried during a radio commercial...

Day 4 - A song that makes you sad
(One word : Beaches. I seriously just cried a little bit watching the video. In addition, this song reminds me of my grandmother, it was one of her favorite songs)

Meme )
uisceros: (Ariel)
All things considered, I keep on top of Taiwanese entertainment news pretty well. I don't know HOW IN THE WORLD I could have missed this.

Taiwan is remaking Coffee Prince

Excuse me while I die of utter delight! And the best part is Ariel Lin is going to be playing Eun Hye's role. Ariel is one of my three favorite Asian actresses, and I've been impressed with her acting since day 1. She's one of the few Asian actresses that really wholly puts herself in the role, being unafraid of looking bad. Seriously, anyone who watched ISWAK knows that's she's not afraid to get into the roles. Dirty crying, and all. RUMORS are saying that Jerry Yan will play Gong Yoo's role, but honestly I hope not. Nothing against Jerry (especially since I quite like him), but he's not one of the best actors in the world. If I could choose, I would hope for Zai Zai, or Joseph Chang. Both are phenomenal actors, and play carefree playboys well.

In other awesome Twdrama news, they're finally picking Extravagant Challenge up again. Now, I've been waiting for this damn drama for years. It's based on Skip Beat, which I love. And it will also star Ariel (which we already knew). What IS new though, is that Jerry Yan (who was initially cast) is being replaced. Instead, we get two awesome alternatives! Siwon and Donghae from SuJu! Siwon and Donghae are my FAVORITE SuJu members! And they both have fantastic chemistry with Ariel (if you've seen her MV for 螢火蟲, you'd agree). I love that Siwon and Donghae are diving into a Taiwanese drama. I want so much for K-stars to pay more attention to Taiwan, and this is the best way. Especially with Ariel (who speaks Korean - she majored in it at university).

I'm so excited! Seriously, the only thing that could make it better would be Zai Zai (who I've always wanted Ariel to act with).

Meme, Day 3 - Song That Makes You Happy )

spoilers, obviously )

Also day 2 of the meme (it's past midnight here, but it's still the 23rd in some parts of the world).

Day 2 - Least Favorite Song
(This is more of a joke, than it is truly my least favorite song. But whatever, it fits ;D I do actually quite dislike this song.)

Meme )
uisceros: (Daniel)
I stole this from [livejournal.com profile] bae_mac, because I thought it was a cute idea. Course inevitably I fail at being consistent. Oh well, I can try!

Day 1 - Favorite song
(This is truly my favorite song. And no, it's not Big Bang. SHOCK. I love Big Bang so so so much, but absolutely no music has touched me more than Silverchair's "Neon Ballroom" album did. Sometimes Daniel's voice makes me want to cry, it's so gorgeous. "Emotion Sickness" was the first Silverchair song I heard, and it changed my life.)

I was bored (despite having bought several new books that I plan on reading within the next several days), so that means meme. This one is fun though, and require participation from the peanut gallery.

1) Put your music player on random
2) For the first 20 tracks, find a picture of the artist via Google Images
3) Get your friends to guess the artist

(Most of these are easy [number 1] but several are really hard...)
The only ones left are the hard ones. Though I'm surprised no one's guessed 15 yet.

When I was uploading these on tinypic, they had categories at the bottom. A picture of shirtless Rain was under the "nature" category. LOL x Forever.

Happy Easter!!

(if you celebrate it! In the USA, Easter has become rather secular, with the focus not on the Resurrection, but rather the Easter Bunny)

I'm on a weird fitness kick. Gym, exercise videos, diet stuff, all that.

The thing is, when I was in Taiwan, I walked everywhere, and got quite a workout everyday. At home I have a car. And it's cold as hell. Sooooo not much walking. Which means I get lazy, and lose my great workout.

What I'm trying, if they're working, and whether or not I hate them )

Anyway, random meme I gacked from [livejournal.com profile] frostedpopcorn

A. List seven habits/quirks/facts about yourself.
B. Tag seven people to do the same.
C. Do not tag the person who tagged you or say that you tag "whoever wants to do it."

In other news, I'm on season 3 of Inuyasha. It's been slow going as of late (I've been distracted by fanfic). But hey, the fact that I AM still watching it, over 60 episodes in, well, that's an accomplishment for me! There's still a bit to go before it breaks my "Longest Anime" record (which is TECHNICALLY Marmalade Boy, not counting Sailor Moon, since it was broken up).

I'm (very) slowly getting back to people. I've lacked the stamina recently. But I'm planning on changing real soon. I have a plan. This plan also includes studying, trips to the gym, and cleaning. FUN.

Speaking of the gym... I tried one of Jillian Michaels exercise videos, and HOLY SHIT, it knocked me on my ass. And I'm fairly in shape too (I'm not a gym rat or anything, but I do go there quite a bit)!

But anyway, music meme )
