Again, literally nothing to do at work (I'm a fast worker, sue me). Soooo... meme time!

This is actually a kpop meme, but I'm making it a cpop meme. Because recently, I've been feeling the cpop love more.

Cpop meme... with pictures! )

Taiwan had an big 6.4 magnitude earthquake about 3 1/2 hours ago. Luckily no one was hurt. (The epicenter was in, I believe, the southern mountains, and that area is far less populated than the north) When I was in Taiwan, there was a 6.3 magnitude earthquake. The epicenter was in Hualien county, which is fairly far away from where I lived way up north in Taipei county, but we still felt it. It was odd, since it happened on the day of the Moon Festival.

I really want to see the movie Crossing Hennessy (aka the return of Tang Wei, who I loved loved LOVED in Lust, Caution) when it comes out, but it's in Cantonese. In general I don't like watching Cantonese stuff. Not because I hate it or anything, it's just confusing to me to listen to Cantonese, because I'm used to Mandarin. Oftentimes I find myself trying to figure out what people are saying, even though it's not a language I understand. (Cantonese does sound very different from Mandarin, but I still sometimes get confused) I might wait to see if it gets dubbed into Mandarin.

I'm kinda pissed that Zai Zai's film The Killer Never Kills is basically stalled in production. The premise intrigued me (a "killer" who's into plants! AWESOME). At least he's filming a new drama Return Home starting this month. In the new drama he plays a military doctor, and I think the film takes place in 1949 (this might change, since it's Taiwan, and they like to change scripts). I don't know if this is a mainland drama, but if not, I'm going to die with glee. 1949 was when Chiang Kai-shek and the KMT fully retreated to Taiwan after the Chinese civil war. that year also marks the beginning of the Taiwanese White Terror, after the 228 incident. I hope the drama focuses on some of the ramifications to to the martial law period. (What can I say, I have a thing for modern Taiwanese political history...)

Lastly, Stanley Huang's new single for a videogame. VERY much love it. But Stanley, when are you going to be in another movie?! I loved him in Twenty Something Taipei.

Recent news:

Show Luo just released a new MV

I read an article where they were talking about his "interracial relationship" in the MV. He mentioned that in real life, he'd be afraid of his mother not approving of him dating a foreigner. *sigh* But anyway, I wonder how his fans will react to the kiss in the MV. They've been known to be a little crazy (read: a lot crazy), and have gotten upset at him kissing a girl while filming a CF...

Making big money from adverts and acting : Zai Zai Dumps "BnW" to work with Zhu Ge Liang! - Several things from this article I found interesting...
- Zai Zai is advertising for Family Mart Oden... Of course he had to wait until I left Taiwan to do it! Interestingly, Mark Zhao advertises for Family Mart's Mr. Brown Let's Cafe coffee. I love the CF for it (where his father appears too!). In Taiwan I got a little sick of Mark Zaho, actually. He's EVERYWHERE, advertising EVERYTHING. I probably have pictures of him doing ads somewhere...
- Speaking of... the article mentions a rumor I had apparently not heard: That Zai Zai and Mark Zhao did not get along during filming, and had some sort of rivalry. I think a lot of it stems from the fact that Zai Zai and Mark Zhao were up against one another for the Golden Bell award. Most people esxpected Zai zai to win, but Mark won instead. (I didn't watch the drama, so of course I can't say who deserved it) There's also talks about how Mark Zhao declined a movie role, and then Zai Zai took it over, etc.
- Zai Zai's camp basically says that there is next to no chance of him appearing in the Black and White movie due to his schedule (they later state they haven't seen a script, so they'll have to see).
- But he is filming a movie that looks interesting to me (it's also the movie role that supposedly Mark Zhao declined). It's current title is Killer, and he plays a, uh, killer. Probably an assassin... Anyway, one of my FAVORITE Taiwanese actresses, Sandrine Pinna, is also in the movie. The best part is they've worked together before, in Poor Prince Taro.
- Lastly, Zai Zai will be in a new drama that will probably air in the autumn or winter (but knowing Taiwan, it might air in 2011), called Back Home, where he plays a doctor.

Show Luo Fulfills the Dream of His Diabetic Mother – Opens a Sweetener (Non-sugar) Dessert Shop - This article warmed my cold, dead heart! Show wants to fulfill his mother's dream of opening a dessert shop specifically for diabetics. Show's mother is a diabetic herself, and wants others to be able to enjoy sweets, without the danger. I think that's amazing, and totally sweet. Both of my parents, and well as both my sisters are diabetic, so I know how it can effect lives negatively.

Random non-Taiwanese, but still interesting... - APPARENTLY, Yamapi and Kitagawa Keiko are dating! This news makes me squeal with glee, because they were SO FREAKING ADORABLE together in Buzzer Beat!
uisceros: (Night)
I decided to follow the rest of my peeps, and do my top 12 drama boyfriend list.

In response to [livejournal.com profile] cranberrysheep's Drama Boyfriend Playoffs, I listed my top 12 (well, technically it was 13, but who's counting) ideal drama boyfriends. And then [livejournal.com profile] ambergold and [livejournal.com profile] princess_dexter made more detailed posts, and well, I decided to as well!

And because I wanted pictures (and since a lot of my choices are from dramas I watched ages ago, when I didn't know how to screencap) I didn't have any ready to use caps, so I spent awhile going through my big ol' folder of drama discs. But this also meant I spent awhile rewatching my favorite parts of various dramas. But I'll get to that later.

Amusingly about half are from twdramas. Apparently I still love me some Taiwanese men after all ;P. Oddly, a lot of my choices are from unpopular dramas as well. And I totally have actor repeat offenders (three of them, actually!)

Anyway, list! (Note, the frst 5 aren't really in any concrete order. I love them all too much to choose between them)
Top 12 drama boyfriends )
uisceros: (Zai Zai in blue)
OMG my peeps, I have a seemingly unending post to write.

It encompasses several days with several major(ish) trips/activities. Plus other random stuff. Because, really, that's just how I work.

First off, I think I'm finally starting to love Taiwan. Sure, it's still 8 millions degrees, and a billion percent humidity, but I feel a TON more comfortable here than before. Took long enough (just over a month! OMG I've been living here a month. Time is passing too quickly!) Still not watching ANYTHING, and still reading far FAR too much POTC fanfic.

SECOND, the stray/wild/domestic animals of our neighborhood:
Cats -> Frodo, Samwise (they chill together, it made sense), Sensei, Autumn Sadie, and Socks
Koi -> Jaws, Supernova, Creamsicle, Sushi, Sashimi, Sesame, Shoyu, and Amos
Lizard -> Mr. Wang (in english, no less)
Cockroach(s) -> 大衛 (Da Wei). Whenever we see him/them, we yell at it "他叫大衛!"
Tadpoles -> They don't have names, really. Maybe they will once they grow into frogs. If Mr. Wang doesn't eat them all first.

THIRD! We had our first Taiwanese language class today. It was pretty awesome. Taiwanese is SO different from Mandarin, more akin to Cantonese in tones (Cantonese has 6/9 tones, Taiwanese has 8). It's very fluid. And nasally, which is fun. Lisa and I are now randomly saying "li beh ki do ui" to each other (你要去哪裡, 'ni yao qu na li' in Mandarin).

On Saturday we took a night time trip to Shilin Night Market )

On the way back to the station we stumbled upon Tian Hou Temple (天后宮), a place I'd been wanting to see. It's so randomly placed, but totally amazing. My first temple visit )

Have I mentioned the popular Taiwanese doll/puppet show? I haven't?! )

Random school stuff! )

GD's new MV Breathe )

Have I mentioned Zai Zai lives in my apartment building? I saw him out for a walk with his mother, and a girl named Zai Mei that he must live with ..... )

October 3rd (I THINK) is the Moon Festival. The school is providing us with vegetarian moon cakes! GLEEEEE! (I soooooo want an ice cream mooncake from Haagen Daez) I'm not sure what we'll be doing, but it'll be awesome.

ALSO September 28th is Confucius' birthday. They have a big thing at the Confucius Temple, but I don't know if we'll go... I want to though. I bet it'll be amazing.

AND I am done. DONE. Despite still have a bunch to say. I swear I've been working on this entry for four hours or so. *sigh*

But one thing before I go... I will leave you with one of Mine and Lisa's randomisms...

"There's a big difference between it not mattering and micropenis"

I'm not even going to explain.
uisceros: (Yoon Eun Hye green)
I've been meaning to write this entry for awhile, actually. Awhile back I stumbled on a bunch of Chinese celebrity baby/childhood pictures. It was AWESOME. I love baby pictures.

Anyway, they're all Taiwanese (save 2), and all adorable!

The Girls! (Jolin a geek?! Rainie with a mushroom haircut?!) )

The Guys! (Including possibly the worst picture of Will Pan EVAR, and Wu Zun looking like a chick) )

And because it wouldn't be fun without it...
My own baby picture! )

All of the pictures (save mine, of course) are from Cfensi
uisceros: (Zai Zai in blue)
I'm not good at keeping track of people's birthdays, so I almost missed it! (Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] prettierdanpink for reminding me!!)

Zai Zai turns 28 today!

Naturally, I will prepare a picspam later on tonight to celebrate this most joyous occasion. God knows I already have around 15 pictures of him sitting on my computer.

Anyway, I was catching up on some news, and decided to post some of the stories I found interesting.
What's going on in recent Asian Entertainment news )

Ah! I'm so behind in entertainment news! I've been so preoccupied with Atashinchi no Danshi (and other jdramas), that I've lost touch with my Taiwanese entertainment roots. I haven't even gotten a chance to finish watching My Queen! I blame the fact that it's streaming, and I hate streaming. I'll get around to it when I finish Sekachu. And once Sekachu is finished (probably today or tomorrow) I'm starting Easy Fortune Happy Life.

And oh! AnD 8 finished airing around two hours ago. I'm anxiously awaiting screencaps!

Some more random stuff relating to upcoming twdramas...
Upcoming Taiwanese dramas 2009 news! )

And one more thing; Joo Ji-hoon seeks 1 year in prison - Basically the prosecuters are seeking to sentance Joo Ji Hoon to a year in prision for taking drugs on one occasion while drunk. Hmmmmmm... something doesn't seem quite right. You know, I love Korea, I really do, but I sometimes wonder about their justice system. A system where a person can be convicted for a year in prision for taking drugs once, or a deceased actress can successfully be sued for being abused by her husband, is probably not a good system.
uisceros: (Zai Zai in blue)
I couldn't resist picspamming Tea Fight anymore. Simply impossible!

Zai Zai is SO COOL, all badass with his (still unfortunate) blue hair. And OMG I LOVE the way he walks. It's so distinctive. Like, he varies it with each role. In Mars it was more of a swagger, in WtSYA it was more jittery, but it's still VERY MUCH unique to him.

Also, he TOTALLY speaks Japanese in it! Only 2 lines so far, but I could understand both (he asked "are you okay", which I hear ALL THE TIME in jdramas, and then he said "destiny" which I know thanks to Escaflowne), so yay!

I'm not sure how I feel about Toda Erika yet. She's cute, but she will ALWAYS remind me of Umi, one of the worst secondary female characters ever. I HATE Umi...

Excuse me as I spontaneous combust. Wow, he's just... wow.
more picspam.... mostly of Zai Zai, because, who am I kidding, I'm watching the movie for him )
uisceros: (Zai Zai in black)
Late to the party, but OMG Teafight has been subbed!

Bring on Zai Zai, dearest love of my life, and his tragic blue hair!
uisceros: (Zai Zai in blue)
You have no idea how badly I want one of these "F4 endoresment dolls"!

They look kinda generic though. Vanness' looks relatively like him, but the others are strange looking. STILL, I want them.

Course I'm several months too late (Damn you Taiwan tourism board for not making your Wish To See You Again special last longer! *shakes fist*)... I totally want the passport holder too. God, I'm just a easy target for merchandisers.
uisceros: (Chuan Yi)
So, I watched the first episode of Black & White (Pi Zi Ying Xiong). Unfortunately it is not fully subbed as of yet. So yes, I watched it raw. And to be honest, I didn't really need the subs.

It's a lot like Starsky and Hutch. Except Taiwanese, modern, and with much hotter guys. Plus, people actually get shot routinely.

Anyway, I took a LOT of caps, and did a liveblog.

This shot made me inordinately happy. Seriously, I was highly gleeful.
Black & White episode 1 liveblog )

Oh, this drama is going to be AMAZING. I can't wait to see Zai Tian's evolution from a carefree dandy into a hardass cop. And I'm excited for the shipping prospects. I think Zia Tian and Chen Lin end up together. I was hoping for Zai Tian and the Science-girl... but you never know, it looks pretty open so far. Mark Chao is impressing me quite a bit. He's a pretty good actor (though I've mostly seen angry scenes so far), and he and Zai Zai have good chemistry. Plus, he's hot.

And OMG Chuan Yi! He's reason enough for watching this. I couldn't believe just how much he changed from his normal image. Like, it's a complete transformation. Which tells me that he's a DAMN good actor. Anyone who can surprise me like that HAS to be amazing. I honestly couldn't believe it. I was figuring he's be the bad guy with a heart of gold, but man. He's NOT. He's goddamn scary. I want to fangirl him into infinity!

Plus, science!! This drama KICKS ASS!
uisceros: (GD B&W)
I'm posting a ton today...

BUT when Yi Jung sucks the blood off of Sara-chick's finger, was anyone else STRONGLY reminded of Mars? I only remember because it was that scene where I was like "Ohhhhh I see why everyone loves him" regarding Zai Zai.

When Jun Pyo told Jan Di he loved her, I seriously, LITERALLY squealed and flailed about for a few minutes, because, WOW SO CUTE!

I like how they totally glossed over the sleeping arrangements...

Um. I think JP could very easily break that door down. The least they could have done is make it look sturdier!

Gah! *fangirls* I never ever though I'd love this boy so much.

Like I've said, like, 8 times before. I'm a Jun Pyo / Jan Di shipper. But OMG Ji Hoo! They're so cute together! With the car washing! So cute!

Also, Woo Bin is awesome.

*sigh* Girl pulled a Risa-chan in Love Com, falling asleep during a confession of love! Poor Ji Hoo just can't catch a break.

How did Ga Eul know it was a building. Sara-chick didn't mention it, and the letter got thrown away. Maybe GE's psychic. Either that or she's read the manga. Does she know what happens AFTER in the manga?

Speaking of which, one of my favorite things about Jan Di is that she isn't against Ga Eul and Yi Jung's relationship. She was nervous at first, but then realized that Ga Eul really does love Yi Jung, and let it be.

Squee! The return of Woo Bin's english!

The zoo! And Jun Pyo getting jealous of a little kid, and then playing with him! I loved this scene in Meteor Garden! The damn thing is too cute!

Fresh off my icon contest joy, I decided to post some icons I've had hanging around for awhile.

There's only 14 this time (I'm telling you, I'm REALLY slow). Mostly Taiwanese. Two Korean.

Icon Batch 1 Here

I think I've gotten better!

Icons! )

After viewing [livejournal.com profile] darkeyedwolf's Yoon Eun Hye picspam, I felt the incredibly urge to icon her. So I did, and now will share! I only made a few this time, but I have a ton more ideas. Also, since I was making pretty girl icons, I of course needed to make one of Qiao En!

More icons! )
uisceros: (Toma-kun katana!)
Several exciting things happened today!

First off, it's GORGEOUS outside. Winter may finally be going away! (Course it was beautiful like this last weekend, and then it snowed...)

Second, I won third place in an icon challenge!!

I was up against some REALLY stiff competition (and of course, I totally forgot to vote this round...), so I'm insanely happy!
(Btw, that Jiro icon; I used one of my original scans from the Love You More and More CD. In all honesty, that icon took me 2 hours to make (I'm SOOO slow!). I experimented with all sorts of layers, selective coloring, brushes and whatnot. I'm so happy it came out well!)

Third, thanks to [livejournal.com profile] isabonita, I am now aware that Jolin Tsai has a new CD coming out soon. Her first single sounds great, and the MV is amazing. I love Jolin so much, it's funny to think that awhile ago I didn't think so much of her. She's really talented, and really smart. Plus, she's gorgeous! If I didn't love her so much, I'd hate her.

Lastly, I got my newest Fahrenheit CD; Fahrenheit (Final Collectible Edition) (CD+DVD). It's awesome, and I love it to death. I have yet to watch the MVs, but I'm sure they'll be fantastic.

And finally, my picspam for the stuff I got from YesAsia yesterday. (I do this mostly for myself. Also, because when I buy stuff, I like to see EXACTLY what I'm getting. So if anyone was thinking of buying the same stuff, they'd be able to see everything)

Wish to See You Again OST )

Big Bang Remember Album )

So yay! Excitement!
uisceros: (Ethan OK la)
Yeah. Definitely getting sick. Lovely.

It's also freaking snowing. I'm SO SICK of snow. I know it's good though. A large snowpack in the mountains means less chance of periodic droughts in the summer. And less summer droughts mean a chance of a better foliage season. And lets be honest, the foliage is the real reason to live in New England. Still, it's Goddamn annoying.

I never posted this picture, did I?
A combination of the thing I love most, with the thing I hate most )

And because I'm antsy, but my brain isn't working well enough to really follow a drama right now, I'm going to do a mini picspam for Green Forest. Without much explanation. But whatever.

The high point of Green Forest for me is Ethan Ruan (though I AM enjoying Esther Liu as Sophie). I know a lot of people dislike him because of his character in Fated to Love You. And yes, Cun Xi was an asshole. I still loved him, because I fall for those type of characters easily. But regardless, in Green Forest he's the 'other guy', which means I love him even more. He's ridiculously charming in the role, plays violin, and speaks english. It's pretty awesome. Plus, there's a rain scene in the second episode, and he's wet. It's nice...

mini Green Forest picspam )

Oh, and I got an awesome new moodtheme... BOYS BEFORE FLOWERS!! I never use moods, but I have to now, because BBF!!
uisceros: (Zai Zai in black)
I should just stay away from the asianfanatics news section. I always end up spending LOADS of time on there... some current news stories that interested me (Taiwanese and Korean);

Stories about Vanness Wu, Big Bang, Wu Zun, Jiro Wang, Lee Min Ho, hot boy lists, Chinese F4, Kim Bum, Superstar Express, Rainie, and Zai Zai )

Also, the cast of BBF must be cursed when it comes to car accidents. Bummie's gotten in two already, Kim Hyun Joong and Kim Joon each had one on the same day, Lee Min Ho was previously injured (badly) from a car accident, and just today Koo Sun Hye had a car accident! Thankfully in most cases, the injuries were non existent or minor (save for Min Ho's). But it makes me wonder, are car accidents in Korea THAT prevalent? I know Taiwan is notorious for car accidents (that's why a lot of times deaths in dramas are due to car accidents), but I didn't know Korea was as well. And really, shouldn't they be hiring better drivers to escort these major stars?
uisceros: (Zai Zai in blue)
Summary of ratings for Taiwan's Idol Dramas: Performance of 'ToGetHer' is mediocre

First off, they changed the name of Superstar Express to "ToGetHer"?! No wonder the ratings suck... I hate it when there are those last minute changes to drama names (in english)... while the original titles aren't always great, the alternative titles are always 50% worse. Like, when they changed "Invincible Shan Bao Mei" to "Woody Sambo" (which is totally 'wtf territory' to me). Why can't they just do direct translations of the Chinese name?
Thoughts on the current season of Twdramas )

When Black & White comes on, I AM going to be live-watching. It stars Zai Zai (love of my life), and Chuan Yi (not the love of my life, but close). Btw, the wiki.d-addicts site for this show has the BEST engrishy sentence ever used to summarize a drama ever; "When a case brought these two top crime solvers together, sparks flied and a little light peeked into this dark city where the nation's President is on friendly terms with the local mafia and twins kill people while drinking milkshake."

I've seen videos of Zai Zai practicing shooting guns, and holy shit is it hot. I also have recently discovered I like his shorter hair a lot better than I like his longer hair. It took me months to get used to it though. Oh Zai Zai, I still love your Mars era Farrah 'do as well.
uisceros: (Twdrama F4)
"The Director of the International department from the Tourism Bureau, Liu Xi-Lin pointed out that in the two years when F4 was the spokesperson for Taiwan Tourism in Japan and Korea, they successfully attracted the attention of 35- 45 year-old mature female fans. The effect was very satisfactory. Last November Fahrenheit took over as the new spokesperson and their target would be 18-25 year-old young female fans."
Um, what? )

In other news, I REALLY REALLY want this. but it's $24! Also, do you think it'd be strange if I bought a huge GD poster, and hung it up in my room and stared at it a lot? Yes? Fine.
More Big Bang Stuffs )

Oh, and the best random quote of the day (enjoy the engrish); "Ella even had once helped her father to catch and castrated pigs when she was younger." Somehow I can totally see Ella doing this.
uisceros: (G-Dragon)
I finally finished 35 icons, so I'm going to post them! Yays! The subject matter is really all over the place... But yeah, enjoy!

The Rest! )

uisceros: (Hehehehehe Sano x Nakatsu 4EVA!)
I just spent an hour or so on ONE icon, and I'm not even that pleased with it. It's not horrible, but it's not great either.

If I can manage to get stuff done faster, I totally want to do an icon post. A Zai Zai icon post... (I've made three icons so far, two are Zai Zai, and one is BBF. And, actually I want to icon all the screencaps I took)

I've been trolling around various comms for three or so hours now, obsessively downloading brushes and textures for photoshop. I recently acquired Photoshop Elements 6 (next to newest! Yay!), so I've been obsessed with it recently.

I'm still watching Goong, albeit quite slowly. I'm on episode 11 now. Still fully enjoying it, though Hyo Rin is totally getting on my nerves. Also still in love with Yul.
