D/Hr fanfic recs?

I'm thinking of doing a fic rec post. Several people have asked for D/Hr recs today, and like I said, one thing I know above all else is D/Hr fanfic. BELIEVE ME. I've been in the fanfic community for around 12 or 13 years now (I'm proud of my ff.net ID number; 4401. Just for reference, I found someone who joined on 07Jul09, and their ID number is 1998019). I've been following HP fanfic the books first came out. I've been a part of the D/Hr fandom since the beginning.

So, do you guys think I should do it? (my first poll ever... how exciting!)

[Poll #1430849]

Thing is, when I love a fandom, I LOVE it.

Anyway, I might put something together of my favorite stories. I made a rec list back in 2005 (when I apparently should have been studying for an Organic Chemistry test I had the next day. Obviously college!me had my priorities straight), but I want to expand on it, and fix the broken links since the main website for D/Hr fanfic is down. SUCKS BALLS.

*sigh* I miss the HP fandom. I'm obviously not in it as much as I used to be (I LIVED in it for many many many years... it wasn't until summer 2006 that I actually ventured fully into a new fandom (PotC, btw). And now I'm in the drama fandom.

WOAH. I was going through some archives of mine, and randomly found the exact entry I was thinking about today. I was convinced I'd never find it! YAY! (It's randomly a rant on how much I hate the eHarmony commercials)

It'll be 9 years for me on August 15th. (ID is 16237)

However I was reading way before I created an account.

HP...might still be considered my main fandom. The HOURS I spent reading...just wow.

2nd would be Sailor Moon (yes really)
3rd would be Naruto

YAY! Another long time ff.net-er...

I was reading for awhile before I got my account too. I'm pretty sure I was around when ff.net was established (october '98... thanks wiki!).

I consider it my main fandom, despite not having been hugely active in it for a few years. Ah, I miss staying up all night during the summers to read HP fanfic. Those were the days...

Oh I was way into the Sailor Moon fandom back in the day! No judgement there ;D

I'd say HP is my main fandom, then drama stuff, then probably Pirates of the Caribbean. I've had so many fandoms over the years it's hard to keep track!

I actually found the LJ of a write who wrote one of the first fanfictions I can remember reading..years later. I was just so..fangirly really lol. Funny thing was, I had added them because of the HP fandom!

Holy crap, you dinosaur. I've only been in it (fandom in general, not HP specifically) for like 8-9 years.

And that ff.net number is ridiculous.

Haha! Way to make me feel old there! *cries alone into my anti-wrinkle cream*
I first got internet in 1996 or 1997. It wasn't long after that I got into the Star Wars fandom. Since this was pre fanfic.net, I used to go on message boards to get my fic fix. And then ff.net was established, and I never looked back.

My low one, or the really high one? I personally think both are pretty ridiculous!

Yeah, you totally had a head start on me. I didn't get it until 2000. I think the first fandom I got into was the Tenchi Muyo! (anime) fandom which at the time was so freaking tiny and mostly filled with badfic.

I meant your number. I haven't checked my ff.net account in ages but I know that it has more numbers than that. A shitload more.

My dad was/is always way into computers and stuff. I was only the second person I knew who had it. Back then you had to pay per minute! THE HORROR! I only got 30 minutes a week. *shudder*

The first fandom I got into on ff.net was Animorphs, and it too was probably filled with badfic, but I still read them all. I never wrote fic (well, not really) but I was known in the fandom back then as a reviewer.

I know, isn't it crazy?! It makes me feel weirdly old, pretty awesome, and kinda lame (because apparently I do not have a life). I still remember when they used to do newsletter columns on the site. I also remember when you could rate stories. Made them a lot easier to sift through.

I had to beg my mom for ages to get a computer. And the dial-up! Although, I guess back then it didn't seem so bad since you had nothing else to compare it to.

Oh! I've never told you about the time when I was 13 and I wrote Inuyasha (anime) fanfiction for about a year. I had this ten chapter AU fic that I never ended up completing because I realized how utterly purple my writing was. However, I did end up getting around 300 reviews for it before I took it down. I still laugh my ass off about that.

I think it's pretty cool that you've been around fandom for a while. Most people I've talked to have only been in fandom for like 8-7 years at most.

LOL I R NOOB: member since: 05-06-04, id: 584857

Your number is AMAZING.

I'm all for recs in everything (I love recs, I hardly ever read stories unless I've seen them recced or memmed or faved) but maybe do the D/Hr ones first? Guide me to the good fics~

Hehe, I like how 5 years is consider a newbie!

I've been in fandom a long time... sometimes it surprises me how long.

Yay! I'll work on the rec list this weekend. And yeah, I'll start with D/Hr. Mostly because I already have a partial list. I'm lazy...

oh wow, are you serious? 12-13 years? I only started seriously using the internet around eight years ago... for neopets. sad, I know. I got into HP-fanfiction around six years ago, and went absolutely bonkers. I haven't really read amazing D/Hr actually, considering that I usually hate Hr's character. I've only been able to stand her in Maya's fics, and she took down her fics a year or two ago since she's an actual !author! now. ah, those were the days... I see Cassandra Claire's books on the shelves in Chapters now and it sends shivers down my spine. lol, am I going to get lynched if I said that I shipped Hr/Snape for two years or so? And then I got into weirder shippings and weirder stories (mpreg!parody!). I used to read L.M. Montgomery ff, which there isn't a lot of... and omgosh, there's FIREFLY fanfiction? like, *good* stuff? please rec! after the Hr/D stuff, of course. for pure memory-time's sake.

Heh, I've been on internet since about 1993-4, but I didn't get into fanfic until about 10 years ago, and then mostly as a reader. I think the first fandom where I got interested in fanfic was either Buffy or Veronica Mars.

[identity profile] marspeach.livejournal.com 2009-07-17 04:35 pm (UTC)(link)
Never got into Draco and Hermione but I'm totally all for Rose/Scorpius.
