I probably haven't mentioned this yet... In January of next year, I'm planning an epic trip. I was going to go Korea anyways for the Big Show 2011, and I want to go back to Taiwan, so I figured I'm combine them into one big awesome trip.
My plan is to spend 2 or so weeks in Taiwan, before flying to Korea for a week. But then, I was thinking, if I'm already there, why not try to visit some other places?
So that is where YOU come in! Suggestions? Ideas?
(Keep in mind I'd need places in the general area of Taiwan. I also need relatively cheap places - no Japan this time because it's damn expensive)

While I'm on the subject, Who else is planning on going to Big Show 2011?tr

Date: 2010-07-28 05:40 am (UTC)I'm planning to go to Tibet next year! Though probably not on January coz that's going to be freeeeezing cold. But you might want to include Tibet in your options.

Date: 2010-07-28 05:46 am (UTC)Cool! Tibet seems amazing. It's a bit far to fly from Korea/Taiwan though... Like one of the places I want to go most in the world is Nepal, but it's so damn far away from everything (the places I visit the most are Germany and Taiwan... it's near neither of them). I'll go one day, damn it!

Date: 2010-07-28 06:11 am (UTC)And Mongolia because then you can go see yurts!! I wonder if they have, like, a yurt hotel?! I know how much you love your yurts!
I want to go to Beijing, and Jeju Island. I also want to travel AROUND Japan sometime, and not just stay in Tokyo. But even outside the city is expensive..

Date: 2010-07-28 06:20 am (UTC)(Ewww, Cantonese! It's so confusing me...)
I DO LOVE YURTS! So much... Yurts, and yaks, and horseback riding through the countryside (except without the horseback riding)... Yeah... Mongolia.
Beijing isn't at the top of my list of places. I'd much rather go to Shanghai, Nanjing, or the Fujian province. MAYBE PENGHU?! Jeju seems nice, but I figure it'd be freezing in January, what with the rest of Korea being ridiculously cold (worse than Korea in December, but at least the last time I had heat).
Stupid Japan for being so expensive. I want to go to Okinawa so badly, but EXPENSIVE. *sigh*

Date: 2010-07-29 03:50 pm (UTC)And places like hokkaido (woo the country!?) and kyoto (wooo maiko!?) and shit.
I always wanna go to Jeju Island cause they are like ALWAYS going there in dramas. It must be the shit.

Date: 2010-07-28 02:16 pm (UTC)You should do it. Everyone is nervous their first time overseas. My first trip was to Germany when I was in college. I went alone (I was doing a fellowship, and was meeting with a group while there), and got lost fairly consistently. I also got followed in a train station by a creepy middle aged man, and yelled at by a lady for some reason... Despite all that, I loved it.
Don't worry too much about the language barrier either. Korea's fairly easy to get around without knowing an ounce of Korean. I'd actually like to see who's going to see if we could all meet up, because that would be amazing!

Cool! I keep wanting to go there, since there's a lot of Chinese culture, but you also speak English, so I won't have to totally depend on my Mandarin like I have to do in Taiwan...
