uisceros: (Dear God I love you Toma-kun!)
1. Don't be alarmed if you randomly get replies to comments you posted a long time ago. I'm trying to go through them and reply, because I hate being such a sucky friend.

2. I'm freaking the fuck out over my imminent schooling. Several of the programs I want to apply to have deadlines in January. And since, for some reason, I assumed the deadlines wouldn't be until April/May, I'm screwed. SCREWED.

I made a list of programs that look interesting. Luckily my first choice isn't due until June. But my second choice (University of Hawaii Tropical Medicine) is January 15th. *cries*

3. I started watching Gloomy Salad Days awhile back, but I don't think I'll continue watching it. It's just... weird. But it made me realize just how long it's been since I've watched a twdrama. Which is bad, because now I'm noticing all the shitty production again. Clearly I need to watch a big budget twdrama, just so I can ease my way into them again.

I'm in an American tv mood right now, but I think I'm going to watch Mawang and Maou. Probably Maou first, since it's shorter. And possibly Yamikin Ushijima-kun because my dearest Taki stars in it. Though he looks HORRIBLE in it (why the facial hair? WHY?!). Almost makes me miss when he looked like a dirty hobo.

Also, surely everyone has seen the preview for the ParaKiss movie by now, right?
I'm dying, DYING to see it. Osamu as George (!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Words can not possibly express just how awesome and perfect this is), Keiko as Yukari (I love her so much... not loving the rumors she's dating Osamu. She need to stick to Pi, kay?)... Amazing dream casting. I'm a little less sure of Yusuke as Hiro (not that I don't love him, but it just doesn't seem right to me... I picture someone kinda like Shun... or Kim Bum, randomly), but I guess it'll work out.

Still waiting for a Big Bang comeback. Getting tired of said waiting.

I decided to follow the rest of my peeps, and do my top 12 drama boyfriend list.

In response to [livejournal.com profile] cranberrysheep's Drama Boyfriend Playoffs, I listed my top 12 (well, technically it was 13, but who's counting) ideal drama boyfriends. And then [livejournal.com profile] ambergold and [livejournal.com profile] princess_dexter made more detailed posts, and well, I decided to as well!

And because I wanted pictures (and since a lot of my choices are from dramas I watched ages ago, when I didn't know how to screencap) I didn't have any ready to use caps, so I spent awhile going through my big ol' folder of drama discs. But this also meant I spent awhile rewatching my favorite parts of various dramas. But I'll get to that later.

Amusingly about half are from twdramas. Apparently I still love me some Taiwanese men after all ;P. Oddly, a lot of my choices are from unpopular dramas as well. And I totally have actor repeat offenders (three of them, actually!)

Anyway, list! (Note, the frst 5 aren't really in any concrete order. I love them all too much to choose between them)

I guess the verdict is yay brain-splitting-headache-of-DOOOOOM (as opposed to staying at work, but without headache of doom), because I managed to watch three episodes of dramas today! Which is super good, considering I've had a hard time staying awake to finish one episode recently.

I got through episodes 11 and 12 of Triple, and episode 2 of Buzzer Beat.

I am loving Buzzer Beat more every second (and not just for the INTENSE FANSERVICE WHERE HOT GUYS ARE HALF NAKED IN EVERY SINGLE EPISODE). It's interesting, the characters are good, and the love triangle between Naoki, Riko, and coach Tomoya is going to destroy me because they're all such good people. But amusingly I was watching Crows Zero 2 the other day, and was like "hey, is that the bad-boy basketball player who slept with Pi's girlfriend in Buzzer Beat?!"... IT IS! So now whenever I see him I picture him getting beaten down by Shun-kun.

But anyway, SUCH a good show. It's perfect for me, reminds me a lot of Hachimitsu to Clover (except like, totally different plots, but the same sort of slice of life feeling). I'm so used to twice weekly releases of Triple, that only getting one episode a week is sad for me. Stupid kdramas, making me expect things!

They're totally adorable, and just made for each other. *is sad for awesome coach Tomoya*
uisceros: (Taki)
Yes, I just posted. But... BUT!

(And I just noticed it now, despite having been posted earlier today...)

Excuse me as I FLAIL INCOHERENTLY. I totally just made myself a GIANT bowl of spaghetti (which is very much not in my diet plan (and will probably make me ill), but hell, it's been a stressful day), and now I'm going to go watch the movie. Because Taki + Shun + Random fighting + possible rain = HOOOOOOT. (If, of course, my download will ever finish...)

Obviously I am very much in love with Taki, because EVERY SINGLE TIME he's on screen I squeal like a little girl. It's so cute though, because he's like a foot shorter than everyone else. Gives me the lulz. Ah, I love him so much!

I laughed 'till I cried, and then I laughed some more.

Though I must say, when Taki and Shun were fighting, I was very conflicted. I kept yelling "Taki!! No, Shun! No, Taki!! SHUN! TAKI!"
(But truthfully I was rooting just a bit more for Taki)

I took a ton of caps, and will probably post some of them later. But for now I leave you with this piece of remarkable cinematography. Love the gel they used to get the color.
uisceros: (Taki)
LISA!!! You've GOT to watch Crows Zero. GOT TO!

Let me tempt you here.

I'm ending up with tons of caps because everything Taki does is made of win and awesome.

Happy Birthday Lisa!!

Today is my bestest friend in the whole world [livejournal.com profile] sn0tcat's birthday! And nothing says I love you more than a LJ post with sparkly text.

Welcome to the quarter-centenarian club! I'll have to prepare the customary giftbasket.

Remember how when we were younger it was cool that I was the older one, and I think I remember you telling me that it wouldn't be so cool when we were 70? Yeah, it's not cool NOW.

And because Lisa is my compatriot in Taki-love, have a picture of Taki from the Crows Zero II promotions!

More movie stuff!

I think I've mentioned my fascination (read: obsession) with MW before. My curiosity was piqued when I learned Yamada Takayuki had filmed a new movie with Tamaki Hiroshi. Since I adore Taki, I was all over that. Plus "MW" are my initials, so I got extra excited! (If my middle name began with an I or an O, it would be even cooler...)

And then, today, I learned of a new(ish) ad they released that, um, really spotlights the yaoi aspect of it all. And then I became rather desperate to see it, because, well...

YEAH. (Because it is Taki, I will ignore the rosary as a necklace thing. But ONLY FOR HIM)

THIS is the new ad (it's so tiny, and I couldn't find a bigger one, but whatever, you get the deal)

I'll ignore the fact that Hiroshi kinda looks like a girl, and focus on the hotness of it all.

But here's the trailer (OMG the gay)!

Hiroshi looks so deliciously evil (I have such a thing for evil characters!), and Taki just looks hot, with his priestly things, and stuff... And randomly YAMAMOTO YUSUKE IS IN IT! I squealed with glee when I saw him in the trailer. I'm going to have to watch Akuma no Game too, since it's related (and Keisuke is in it, so added bonus ;D).

Seriously though, when I'm in Japan, I was to track down Taki and kidnap him. Maybe I can snag Hiroshi at the same time. And we can't forget Osamu either! Geez, I think I'll need some help. Any volunteers?

(Ew! I just saw a press release thing for the movie, and Taki's hair is OUT OF CONTROL. He also looks kinda high... and he's the shortest one there, even the chick is taller than him. I DON'T CARE, TAKI! YOU'RE STILL PERFECT TO ME!!!)

Also, WTF?! There's going to be a Nodame Cantabile movie this December?! How do I not know these important things?
uisceros: (Toma-kun katana!)
Eh. I'm suddenly bored beyond words with all the dramas I'm currently watching (well, that's inaccurate, I'm not bored with them, I just don't have the energy to start a new episode... when I do, in fact, start watching, I get all happy and excited again, but finding the energy to actually start it is the problem)....

The only one that seems remotely good to me right now is Kurosagi. There's a bunch of other ones I want to start, but I'm keeping myself in check here, because I do NOT need more unfinished dramas :D

Edit: So I just finished Kurosagi ep 7, and I'm glad I watched it. I had already skimmed it earlier, so I knew what happened ('NOT REALLY A HUG' HUG!), but still, it was made of awesome. AWESOME.

Yamapi in the rain is a good thing ;D
Choice caps from the 'not really a hug' hug scene )

Another fun thing; Harada Natsuki is in this episode! I was like "... is that Yamada (from Hachimitsu to Clover)?", and it was, and I was happy because I love her, and then I capped her a lot, because she's GORGEOUS. See?

Seriously, she's amazingly gorgeous.

Two more random caps;

Yup. Convenient sink blockage, huh? Thanks for that, kdrama.

And OMG Taki is BACK ON MY SCREEN, and somehow everything is well with the world. Because Taki = AWESOME. I seriously need a Taki icon. How can I not find any?!
uisceros: (Toma-kun in blue)
I just finished Byakuyako. It took me about a day an a half of watching, which is incredibly fast for me. I rarely marathon anything anymore.

I've already said what I had to say about this drama in the last post. But I was right. The ending wrecked me. I'm not crying. It wasn't that type of ending. It was the type of ending that just depresses the hell out of you, because you want so much for these people to be happy, but they never will be. Luckily I believe strongly in reincarnation, so if an OTP doesn't work out, I'm always like "Well, hopefully they'll be together in their next lives!" It's my optimism in the face of tragedy.

But yes, the ending to Byakuyako... it hurt. That's the best possible explanation I can give. It hurt my soul. Um, I'll explain the rest under a cut, in case people don't want spoilers.

This cap is NOT spoilery... The end is the beginning.

Spoilers for the final episode of Byakuyako )

I'm going to miss this show. But I maintain that it is and was the most fucked up drama I've ever seen. I think I forgot to mention the necrophilia. You think they're only going to bring it up once, but no.... they just keep throwing it at you... Seriously, wtf drama!?

Now I need something lighthearted, because all the angst is too much. Ah, Atashinchi no Danshi, I miss your cracktastic comedy!
uisceros: (Rui Jia)
I'm almost done with Byakuyako. Only three episodes left.

So, the thing about this drama; I love it so very very much. But even I don't know what to do with all the utter fucked up-ness of it (and honestly, I have an EXTREMELY high tolerance for messed up stuff in dramas). Seriously. This has to be the most batshit crazy drama I've ever seen.

The main characters are horrible people, they do horrible things. And when I say horrible, I mean HORRIBLE. There's murders, attempted rapes, blackmail, theft, fraud, embezzlement, ANYTHING YOU CAN POSSIBLY THINK OF. I'm telling you, these are not nice people. If someone wrongs them, their first thoughts are "well, I guess I have to kill them (or frame them for a crime) now"...

And yet, I love them, and root for them. It's because they're so tragic, and in love, and keep digging themselves in deeper and deeper. They're totally and completely dependant on each other, and it's both terrifying and beautiful to watch.

Like [livejournal.com profile] sn0tcat said, it's like they made this drama to totally screw with fans of Sekachu. Seriously, it's a mind fuck. I mean, there's Ayase Haruka, with her same sweet voice, telling Ryou to perform necrophilia. And Yamada Takayuki, with the same hurt expression, looking at a person he just stabbed to death. I think it's even more pronounced for me, since I JUST finished Sekachu. But otherwise it's easy to distinguish. Yuki and Ryou are DEFINITELY not Aki and Saku.

Anyway, I have some caps. Most are of Taki looking amazingly hot while being angsty. But there are a few other caps thrown in too! Including an, um, interesting bathhouse scene with Taki and Keisuke (and when I say "interesting" I don't means slashy... well, not really)

Caps! (Contains pretty major spoilers for up to episode 9) )

So yes... Byakuyako... To be honest, I cannot rec this drama to everyone. It's amazing and wonderful, but it's not the type of drama that everyone would like. It's not even the type of drama most people would like. The crimes they commit are horrible, and their relationship is messed up. It's not just a serious drama, it's one of those dramas that deals with moral ambiguity. Think Kou Kou Kyoushi 2003, except to a much greater degree. These characters have no redeeming qualities other than each other, and I don't think most people would be able to handle that. It's not even something like their love is so great and tragic that it overcomes problems. It's more like their love CAUSES the problems. Because they're pretty much sociopaths.
uisceros: (GD Bang)
Oh God... Byakuyako is KILLING me. The damn thing is messed up, which adds highly to my enjoyment (I enjoy lighter dramas on the whole, but nothing spells awesome to me better than a really good totally fucked up drama... we're talking Kou Kou Kyoushi scale here).

But the whole thing is going to shit (not the show itself, it's still awesome and amazing, rather the relationship between Yuki and Ryou). Especially now when she's all "Oh, I love that other guy", which is pissing me off. Stupid other guys. And poor Ryou is all like "why did you do this to me?!", and he's right.

I still love Yuki though. Did I mention she desecrates a catholic church? Well, she does. It's AWESOME (keep in mind, I myself am catholic, it's not like I'm hating all up on the religion).

Note the church-y destruction

Ayase Haruka has to be one of the most beautiful people I've ever seen. Plus, she's actually talented. She's impressing me quite a bit in this. Taki's impressing me too (and yes, from here on in, I will refer to him as "Taki"). I want them to act in more things together, because I ship them like burning. Something that doesn't involve people dying. Something happy. I also have a strong desire to watch more of Taki's dramas because apparently I am in love with him.

But come on, it's impossible to NOT love someone when they angst this prettily.
uisceros: (Bangkok Love Story; Fog)
I have a feeling I'm not supposed to like Ayase Haruka as Yuki in Byakuyako. But I do. SO MUCH. She's manipulative, and ruthless, and I just adore her for being so totally screwed up. It's interesting seeing them in these roles though, since they're so completely different from their roles in Sekachu.

But um, it's rare when I am surprised by a drama. But I've got to say, staged sexual assault and then necrophilia (I was all like "Ryou, I know you love her and want to protect her and everything, but DON'T LISTEN TO HER WHEN SHE TELLS YOU TO SCREW THE CORPSE")... Lets just say Byakuyako has surprised me quite a bit. I freaking ADORE it.

I'm on my work computer (which only had VLC) so I'm not capping much. But whenever I do, it's these shots of Takayuki being angsty (is it wrong that I want to nickname him "Taki"?)

Okay, so Osamu is supposed to be in this episode, and I'm pretty sure I've heard his voice, but I have yet to see him. And I totally didn't know Koide Keisuke was in this... when I saw him (he plays a man whore!!!), I squealed with glee.

Oh Byakuyako, how I love you so.
uisceros: (Nadia)
Sekachu deserves a well thought out, full length post.

I am currently not capable of doing that. My heart is broken in a million pieces. I love this drama. I love it so much it's not even funny. I love every single thing about it. I want to rewatch it now, and I don't want to watch anything else. Anything new will ruin this feeling.

Aki and Saku's walk across the airport has to be one of the most heartbreaking things I've ever seen in my entire life.

I can't watch the special now. I'm exhausted. It's late at night, and I just cried a good amount (I almost never cry during tv shows or movies, not even when I was 13 watching Titanic, at that point where Jack slips into the ocean, and every single other person in the theater is crying... course I DO cry every single damn time I watch Extreme Makeover Home Edition... I think the stories have to be real). I'm also going to watch the movie, and read the book once I order it.

But for now, I'll leave you with a cap.
uisceros: (Park Bom)
I've been collecting images on my work computer for awhile now, so I decided to do a random picture post. I have a mix of stuff; Kpop and Jdrama related.

I'll do Zai Zai's picspam tonight, hopefully. Last night was distinctly unfun, what with the exercising, and then the sleeping. I didn't even got to finish Sekachu! But anyway, pictures.

Park Bom is gorgeous, and I hate her for having amazing perfect skin.
The rest! )

You know, I was watching one of 2NE1's performances, and the crowd cheers for Park Bom in the same way they do for YB. Whenever YB does a solo, the crowd chants "DONG YOUNG BAE" (his name). Whenever Park Bom sings her solo parts in songs, the crowd chants "PARK BOM". It's adorable. I love Park Bom.

(BTW, the BB pics are from either allkpop, or k bites. The park bom pic is from YG ladies, and obviously I took the caps.)
uisceros: (Chae Kyung + Yul)
Aw, Sekachu, now that's just low. Resorting to tiny adorable pouting Japanese kids to get me weepy and filled with girly feelings... It worked, of course...

Yes, still watching Sekachu, still loving it, still waiting to bawl my eyes out. Episode 8, here I come.
uisceros: (Joseph)
Okay, so I started Sekai no Chuushin de Ai wo Sakebu. I knew what I was signing up for before I started it. It's filled with tragic sadness. I mean, the first scenes consist of Saku trying to spread Aki's ashes, so you know this is going to be that kinda drama. No surprises, which is nice, actually (I still haven't forgiven Summer Snow for making me think everything was happy and good and then blindsiding me! You should have seen the frantic emails I sent to [livejournal.com profile] sn0tcat about it....)

The thing about Sekachu is, I love it. I love it so much. It's a lot like Summer Snow, or Love Contract, or even Eternal Summer and Summer's Tail to an extent (except more tragedy). It's slice of life (kinda) which I think is my favorite genre, and it's fabulous. SO fabulous. The pacing of the whole story is beautiful, and Ayase Haruka and Yamada Takayuki are wonderful in it. But I know it's going to break my heart.

I took a few caps, but I'm not going to provide much commentary on them (other than the two caps I specifically took to comment on...), because I really couldn't possibly begin to do justice to the story. Pithy statements would just ruin the feeling.

More caps )

Ah, now I KNOW I'm going to have the buy and read the book.

In other news, I finally saw Star Trek today, care of a nicely done fancam (I don't see movies in theaters much... I don't like to pay the exorbitant movie theater fees).
Thoughts... and then I randomly ramble about Star Wars... )

Woah, suddenly really tired. Must sleep...
uisceros: (Kyoko)
As part of my "finally watch stuff that I've been putting off forever" resolution, I finished Densha Otoko! I figured I'd start small, and I only had 2 episodes left on that one.

I adored it. I can't say it's a favorite, but it was super sweet, and well done. Hermes-san has to be the most understanding and sweet heroine ever. She accepted Densha despite him being a total dork. I mean, he was an amazing guy, but it's hard to get past first impressions. I liked it a lot better than the movie, probably because I think the movie was miscast. Like, I do think he's a good actor, but there is no way in hell Yamada Takayuki would not have girls mobbing him even if he was dressed horribly. And while I do think Nakatani Miki is pretty, she's not the drop-dead gorgeous Hermes-san is supposed to be. Plus, you know, Shun-kun was in the drama. I do love Eita, but in this case, Shun wins.

Anyway, caps!

I love when they do this, showing all the A channel users!
Densha Otoko finale )

Now I'm all sad... and I'm listening to a sad song. Poor kid.
uisceros: (Toma-kun and his curry)
Last night/this afternoon I watched the Densha Otoko movie. I liked it plenty. But it is very different from the drama, which was to be expected of course.

It was more compact (again, obviously), and more dramatic than the drama. It was also filmed a whole hell of a lot prettier.

That being said, I do like the drama better for a couple major reasons;
Why I like the drama better )

So yes. I'd rec it. It was sweet, and quite lovely. I still think the drama is better though.
