Random stuff, but mostly Taiwanese music.

Finally watching the end episodes of BBF.

Also, finished Twenty Something Taipei (OMG sooooo good!!), and might post some stuff about it later. Sometime. Maybe.

I downloaded some Taiwanese movies today (including Cape No. 7!), so I'll be watching those in the coming days, and possibly posting about them.

Anyway, the point of this post is that I am currently really loving Mayday and Machi (hilarious opposite each other in music styles).

I really love this song off Mayday's most recent album Poetry Of The Day After.

This is a remix Machi did of Missy's Elliot's song "Work It", it's pretty damn good. And Andrew is totally adorable, he was only 13!

Also, while watching Xiao Zhu's MV for 箇中強手 (Hot Shot) I literally yelled out "SPARKLY GLOVE!!" Because yes, there is a sparkly glove... thing. I understand why he calls himself the Taiwanese Usher.

I also downloaded something incredibly awesome and dorky... The opening song from Marmalade Boy! The clip is from the second season. And yes, they're in New York (aw, the twin towers kinda made me sad). SQUEEE!!! Kei-kun is there too!! (Kei-kun is my all time favorite anime character EVAR). Also; *shakes fist at Jinny*

I watched the Taiwanese Usher song XD lol It's pretty catch song though.

OMG Gotta love old time anime openings XD!!

[identity profile] uisceros.livejournal.com 2009-04-05 11:38 pm (UTC)(link)
That's Alan Luo! He's like, one of the most famous Taiwanese artists, but that's actually the first song I've ever heard of his (I watch his variety show though!). It IS pretty catchy! I love the video though, because he burns people up with his eyes while wearing guyliner and dancing with a sparkly glove!!

I know! They're really awesome! The best/worst is the one for Hana Yori Dango. OMG the dancing! At least the Marmalade Boy one had something to do with the plot!

[identity profile] stringy-cow.livejournal.com 2009-04-06 02:12 am (UTC)(link)
LOL When I was watching it I thought "I bet she's lovin' on his guyliner" XDD Question, is that tattoos on his arm? OH WAIT I just realized that's the sparkely*~*~*~ glove lmao xDD That's some glove! OH my! Don't take that out of context! haha

Funny story about that opening. I had never seen that anime or knew anything about the story. One night my friend and her cousin were watching it when I came home from work. I was watching the opening and said "Oh I guess it's about dancing huh." And they just started laughing XDD Totally! It's such a random opening. I mean even if the characters were just plain dancing like they...went out dancing. But NO they are even wearing leotards and stuff!

[identity profile] uisceros.livejournal.com 2009-04-08 03:27 am (UTC)(link)
Haha! I'm that transparent, huh! I also really like it when guys are wet. Another one of my things... YUP that's the glove... thing. It IS quite the glove. It's so weird and random. Taiwan isn't a crazy as Japan when it comes to band costumes, but sometimes they get crazy.

It's kinda funny, since the anime movie IS about dancing (it's weird, and I don't like to think about it much, because wtf dancing?!). But yeah, it makes no sense with the storyline.

[identity profile] stringy-cow.livejournal.com 2009-04-13 02:09 pm (UTC)(link)
*late replies to everything*
That's ok I'm pretty easy to read too XD
Recently I'm want to compile an Asian dance club mix, I think that song should be one of em lol.

I didn't know there was a HYD anime movie! Is it like one of those oav things? or no? I always got so confused with the oav crap.

[identity profile] uisceros.livejournal.com 2009-04-13 02:31 pm (UTC)(link)
Hehe! Unless I'm RIGHT AT MY COMPUTER when I get comments (and usually not even then) I don't reply to stuff until the end of the week.

!! That'd be so awesome! I want to make one too now! Except, for the most part, the dance stuff I have is Korean. So it'd be pretty boring.

Yup! I don't think I've watched it (I might have seen some of it), but I hear it's pretty crazy. Nope, it's not an OAV, just a random movie with the same characters, but totally different plotline.

OAV's confuse me too... especially the ones for Fushigi Yuugi. I still can't figure those out!

[identity profile] stringy-cow.livejournal.com 2009-04-13 03:39 pm (UTC)(link)
Yea sometimes I put off replying, but this week was just bad because I was working double shifts so much this week and it was Easter I just checked my email, dressed my poupee and went to bed. BLAH

I want to hear your mix if you make one though!! I don't know when I'll do this one, but maybe sometime. BTW do you have an mp3 of that guy's song? I was just gonna record it off of youtube, but an actual mp3 would be cooler. I thought maybe I'd try to edit some of the songs with neat effects or add tracks in the background, but I might get too lazy to do it XD

I'm always confused about why they do stuff like that.
I used to hear about OAVs all the time, now I don't really hear about them. I wonder why.

[identity profile] uisceros.livejournal.com 2009-04-13 03:58 pm (UTC)(link)
Ew! I can imagine the suckitude. Thankfully I didn't have to work this weekend. Oh crap! I totally haven't done ANYTHING to my poupee in like, MONTHS.

Okay! I'll totally post it if I make one! The Hot Shot Alan Luo one? If so, then yes. I can upload it when I get home tonight!

I occasionaly see OAVs, but for like, older stuff. I don't watch a ton of anime anymore, so it's not like I'd hear about them anyway...

[identity profile] stringy-cow.livejournal.com 2009-04-13 04:49 pm (UTC)(link)
It was major suckitude, esp. on Sunday :(!
Yes the Hot Shot song please! Thanks so much!!

Either they don't make em, or anime fans just stopped caring? Well I just watch the shows that come on the tv and don't really care much else besides that, so maybe that's why I don't hear about it. lol.

[identity profile] uisceros.livejournal.com 2009-04-13 11:59 pm (UTC)(link)
I hate working on weekends. Working on a holiday must have been especially awful!

Okay! You can download it here. I have the full album too, so if you end up liking it a lot, I can send you the full album too.

It's probably because they got too confusing! I do like it when they produce OAVs for manga series though (though the only times I've seen that they're been for the, uh, adultish manga, like Boku wa Imoto ni Koi o Suru).

[identity profile] stringy-cow.livejournal.com 2009-04-14 12:23 am (UTC)(link)
In the business I work in, it's automatic to work on holidays haha D: I work all holidays except for xmas and I'm lucky to get a couple days off there. Too bad it's not like the days when everything closed on holidays lol. I sometimes think about that on holidays, thinking, I go to the gas station, I go to the store etc. Those people are working on holidays too. Sucks.

Thanks so much for the mp3! Now I can complete my mix list XD! I tried to use my audio editing program to sort of try to add some dance mix into songs, but I gave up pretty quickly. It takes too much effort, much more than I'm willing to put into it lol. Strangely it's mostly Korean artists lol Among all the Japanese artists I know, there's really only one that has some dance music for a club. Well if I could remix stuff I'd make remixes but I can't so lol.

Yea if there's a manga with no anime then it's kind of fun! It's funny you mentioned that one because I watched that one XD lol. I've wanted to see that movie for a while now! I keep forgetting to look it up. And it has Matsujun in it.

[identity profile] uisceros.livejournal.com 2009-04-14 02:21 am (UTC)(link)
That just plain sucks. Sometimes we have to work on holidays, but it's rare. One good thing about working at a large company; we get all major holidays off!

No problem! Heh! I so want to make one now! But I also want to watch an episode of a drama... Hmmm, decisions decisions... Kpop seems more dancey in general. Most Mandopop I've encountered is softer; more pop-ey. There's some, of course. Heh! I can't even imagine making a remix. Brain can't comprehend! Let me know when you finish your mix! I'd love to hear it!

!!! REALLY?! OMG I LOOOOOVED the movie. Like, FAR more than I should have, considering the subject matter. Most people found it boring (it IS rather slow, and understated) but I loved it. And then proceeded to read most of the manga (some isn't available!), and watch the OAVs. Watch it though! It's really good, and Nana is adorable!

(Anonymous) 2009-04-14 03:09 am (UTC)(link)
Yea it'd be nice to have that kind of life too! For right now it's fine, but maybe later I'll want to do something like that.

Well I had been thinking of making one for a while, because I thought, man I want to dance to some of these songs! So I decided that I needed a mix to play XD I wish someone would really play it in a club lol. I'm sure somewhere there are clubs like that though, but probably not here in Atlanta (maybe in LA though). Right now I'm organizing the songs in the order I think they should be played (I got about 22 XD). I might edit the beginning and ends to mix the songs together, that shouldn't be too hard lol.

Oh I'm glad to hear it was good!! I should look it up sooon! Like probably tomorrow XD I can only watch it unsubbed anyway, so I don't know what's stopping me lol. Despite the subject matter that story is really interesting. It's somehow not as disgusting to watch it as you'd think.

BTW, have you seen the Virgin Snow movie with Lee Jun Ki? I really love that movie too! It's a great splice of Korean feeling and Japanese feeling!

[identity profile] stringy-cow.livejournal.com 2009-04-14 03:12 am (UTC)(link)
err...why was that anonymous...? lol Sorry ^^;

[identity profile] uisceros.livejournal.com 2009-04-16 02:42 am (UTC)(link)
Hehe! It's fine!

That's kinda how I feel about my job too. It's fine for right now, but it's not my field, so I'm not staying.

That's a good reason for making a playlist! I just make playlists because I'm bored... There should be a club for like, only fans of Asian music. Because you know they wouldn't play the stuff in normal clubs... Yeah, if anywhere I'd think LA. I don't think the east coast has, in general, as big an (east) Asian population as the west.

Sounds cool! I'm... not remotely finished with mine. I think mine's going to be more of a party mix, as apparently my sense of dance music is skewed...

I wasn't really disgusted by it (they do a really good job in making it not gross, but kinda romantic and sad), but then, I've been reading fanfic since I was 14. I've seen worse things... Seriously, fanfic has jaded me!

I have not! I've recently been wanting to watch some more kmovies! I've only ever seen Antique, so I should watch more. I want to see Seducing Mr. Perfect with Daniel Henney too!

Oh, speaking of cultural splicing; have you seen/heard of the movie Tea Fight? It has a partial Japanese partial Taiwanese cast. My favorite tw-actor is in it (with blue hair no less) so I want to see it, but it's not out with subs yet.

[identity profile] stringy-cow.livejournal.com 2009-04-17 01:49 am (UTC)(link)
Well I love food, I really do. I think it's exciting and there's so much of it to experience and try and learn. But I just get bogged down by some of the mentality. (And working so much too!) So I get why alot of chefs open up their own places, even if it's super stressful, they are doing the kind of food THEY want. And that makes it worth it. For me I'm also interested in the food of other cultures, including traditionally ethnic things, to what do people REALLY eat nowadays in countries.

Well I'm sure there are plenty of other things I could be doing, like studying kanji, writing up Japanese sentences for one. Or doing any of the number of cleaning jobs around my house LOL. So really it's just like random thing I wanna do cause I'm being lazy lol.

If there were a club like that, it'd be awesome. I'd go to it! The only chance you might have with playing it is if the song is in English for some reason. Then you might be able to sneak it by people and they might say "Hey this song is cool, who is it? I never heard it before." "Yea me either, but it's cool!"

I was driving in the car with some of my co-workers and had some Japanese rock playing. Guy sitting in the passenger seat was like rocking out with air drums to it LOL. So he asks me who it was, so I answered. I think he was kind of surprised. I'm not sure if he was even paying attention to the singing, because obviously it wasn't English XD (But of course heavy rock would sometimes have the screaming, so yea lol)

OMG ANTIQUE I totally forgot about that coming out! I was really excited when I learned they were making it! Omg the guy who randomly spoke Japanese in coffee prince is in it, ee he's cute too XD Yea you should see it! Because JunKi is good and incredibly adorable in it! I haven't watched that many movies myself, so I wanna see more. I've mostly watched JunKi movies XD

Oh that Tea Fight movie sounds really cool! I will want to watch that one (God I need a list of stuff I need to watch lol).

[identity profile] uisceros.livejournal.com 2009-04-17 02:27 am (UTC)(link)
I understand. I love science too. Just, not what I'm doing. It's not even my field. Sounds interesting! I think foreign food is interesting too, even if I find most of it disgusting (I'm a SUPER pick eater!). Like, Taiwanese food fascinates me, but; hundred year eggs, stinky tofu, fried blood pudding? No thanks.

I'm super lazy too. Sometimes I'm too lazy to even finish the things I do while being lazy. It's like a cycle of crazy laziness!

Or maybe if some club were having an Asian night... but yeah, if you played an english big bang song, I doubt anyone would know they were Korean! Stupid people and their weird bias towards music in other languages!

Haha!! That's so funny!

It's REALLY good. And wow, Joo Ji Hoon is very nice. Yup, Kim Jae Wook! He plays the "gay of demonic charm" (and yes, they call him that throughout the movie...) He's also randomly in the drama I'm watching currently! I like when people randomly speak other languages. My favorite twdrama had characters who randomly speak Japanese!

I want to see it mostly for Zai Zai, but it does seem like an interesting plot.

Heh, I have a list (it's a giant list of DOOOM). My list has 172 dramas on it... Only 17 movies, but I'm always adding.

[identity profile] stringy-cow.livejournal.com 2009-04-17 02:46 am (UTC)(link)
Well yea, there are definitely things that I might not end up trying. I try to have a sense of, I'll try almost everything once. But I have to draw the line somewhere XD It'd be awesome to have Anthony Bourdain's job! lol That way I have a sense of security lol.

LOL cycle of crazy laziness XD I think I'm having that right now. Being that all I've done is look up new music and lj comment with you all night lol. But it's a good lazy and makes me feel better so it's ok haha.

Oh asian night, that's an idea! Sometimes when you go to a club you feel like you can dance for HOURS! Seriously at one point I don't think it would have mattered what they played, people would just dance the crap out of it. They played linkin' park and people were dancing to it XD Exactly! Big Bang's English is great!

lol gay of demonic charm XD I love it. I was watching a Japanese talk show and they had the girl from HYD on it. And they had video tapped messages from the F4 members. And one of them randomly gave a message to her in Chinese (I'm not sure if it was Mandarin or Cantonese, but prob. Mandarin). They were all like "ehh I can't understand it at all! XD" Lisa told me he is originally from China (he's half Jap/Chinese). But it was just so random! lol. Like why give a message in a language other than Japanese? Maybe if I could understand what they said AFTER the message I would know why ^^;; Maybe she was trying to learn Chinese or something lol.

holy crap that is a huge list!! I kind of helps to have a list I guess! You can cross stuff off and feel like you're getting progress. Instead I just think god I have too much stuff to watch and then somehow end up not watching stuff lol.

[identity profile] uisceros.livejournal.com 2009-04-17 02:55 am (UTC)(link)
It's funny, I'm like the opposite. I'm hugely unadventurous when it comes to food. I basically eat the same thing every day. Sometimes I get sick of it, but mostly I don't. I'd like Anthony Bourdain's job for the travel! I doubt I could deal with the food!

Hehehe! All that's pretty similar to what I've done all night. I like being lazy. It's nice to do after work!

Really? People were dancing to Linkin' Park? Funny! I know, I was surpised by how good their english is!

Ah yes, Abe Tsuyoshi! Yeah, he's half Chinese (he speaks Mandarin). Occasionally he acts in Taiwanese dramas, which is really funny to me, since I know him best from HYD! I've seen videos of him trying to teach Shun and Shota Mandarin. Poor Shun sucked, but Shota was pretty good! Maybe he just wanted to appear cool and different...

Isn't it. I'm highly intimidated by the size of it. I keep it mostly so I don't forget a drama I'm interested. I know I won't ever get to most of them, but whatever. Though I DO feel a sense of accomplishment when I change the colors on the list (the colors vary between unwatched, to currently watching, to finished).

[identity profile] stringy-cow.livejournal.com 2009-04-17 03:09 am (UTC)(link)
I get into food booms and end up eating that for a while lol. Then I eventually get sick of it or return to another food and feel like, oh I haven't eaten this in forever! and eat it XD Recently my thing is eating stuff I used to eat when I was younger that my mom made. So I was making stuff like tuna noodle casserole and beef stroganoff lol. My Korean food boom is bulgogi lol.
I want to try new things, but I might not like it lol.

I know, somehow the song actually fell into place!

Oh I didn't know that about him! I wonder how good I'd be at Mandarin! lol That could be! I might do the same thing lol. I like knowing languages for some reason XD DBSK was having a session where they were teaching some useful phrases in Korean. And they were having the host say them and they were all like "omg your pronunciation is really good!" Because they said their staff (I'm assuming Japanese staff) still can't say stuff right lol.

Yea, if I kept at least a text file I could remember oh I wanted to see that and that! Which I seem to forget, as I noted that recently twice already XD!

[identity profile] uisceros.livejournal.com 2009-04-17 03:28 am (UTC)(link)
I do that too. Right now I'm weirdly on tootsie roll pops! Other than my food kicks, I eat the same basic thing everyday; either soydogs, or some sort of broccoli tofu stir fry. Like, seriously, for the past year, I'd say my diet was 80% soydogs... It's boring, but it works for me! I've recently been eating a lot of Chinese though!

The two hardest things in Mandarin pronunciation are the tones, and the letters Z, X, and Q. Most of the tones aren't bad though. And once you get a basica idea for them, and the letters down, it's not that hard to pronounce! Aw! That's cute! Taiwanese tv had a lot of stuff like that, with english.

Hehe! I kept a list on lj for awhile, but one day just spent like, three hours making the massive list of doom. It's easy to keep up now, but it took forever to make.

[identity profile] strangersuntold.livejournal.com 2009-04-06 12:14 am (UTC)(link)
gah i love marmalade boy! epsecially the song moment. i couldnt watch the tw live version even with ken in it. it looks bad. have you seen the tw version?

[identity profile] uisceros.livejournal.com 2009-04-08 03:22 am (UTC)(link)
Really?! I find so few people who even know Marmalade Boy exists! It was my second anime ever, I love it desperately! I haven't watched it yet (mostly because until recently I couldn't find a version that didn't make me want to slaw out my ears from horrible sound), but I do eventually plan to. I love the anime that much!
