A few more pictures!

The Lover's Bridge in Danshui. As seen in several Taiwanese dramas! It's super pretty, and being near the ocean always makes me happy!

The view off the Fisherman's Wharf

I've seen this ad a lot before, but this is the first time I've gotten a chance to take a picture. It's an ad for (as far as I can tell) a video game. And yes, that is TOTALLY Ethan Ruan.

I doubt I will ever tire of taking pictures of the 101, because it's so pretty! Especially at night. I really like how the street light interfered.

I have an ungodly amount of pictures from our trip to the Taipei Confucius temple, but will only post this one for now. THIS is the actual temple. Since we went on Confucius' birthday we couldn't go in to the temple proper (they were setting up for the festivities). But regardless, man is that place impressive. Gorgeous.

At the temple there was a man doing traditional Chinese paintings for people in honor of Confucius' birthday. We ran to the giftshop to buy one of these prayer plaques, and got in line. It's a bit of a long story, but in the end we ended up with these amazing, personalized, original pieces of artwork that only cost us NT$40 (about USD $1.20) because he was painting them for free. The first picture is the front of the plaque. He wrote my Chinese name on it on the right (伍美俐), and some other stuff I can't read because it's all handwritten and stuff (though I think it says 安 there at the bottom...) The backside is the art, and it's gorgeous and I love it. It reminds me of fall leaves, like at home.

I finished the first book of The Vampire Diaries not long ago, and holy shit I love it, in all it's badness. And I've got it SO BAD for Damon it's not even funny. Stefan kinda bores me, being all righteous and stuff. Then again, I DID prefer Louis to Lestat, so apparently I am fickle.

The typhoon didn't hit (yet), but it sure feels like it. It's been raining, cold, and windy. I can't say I mind that much. Today, for the first time since being here, I wore a long sleeved shirt. It was nice.

Sometime soon we're going to go to Alleycat's, because I'm just SO sick of Asian food. I want some good old American style pizza.

The ocean is so pretty :D!!! I think I could sit there and look at it all day!
That's really nice about the plaque! It's great that he personalized them. Man shorthand calligraphy is soooo hard to read DX! I could speculate about what characters I think they are, but since it's also Chinese it's harder (and I can't input them since I only know how to input the ones in Japanese lol).

The words are 喜樂平安 (xi le ping an).
They mean joy and peace! (:
I can't figure out the last two words below your name though, if they are words. :/

Wow, you've got so many pretty pictures! And I'm going to get to see some of those places in just over a month; how exciting! :-) I think we're definitely going to the 101 tower and to the Confucius temple, at any rate. That calligraphy is lovely. Can you remember which dramas the Lover's Bridge was in? I'm trying to figure out if I've seen it in It Started With A Kiss.

Hi, I just stumbled upon here from google. I am not Taiwanese, but Chinese. It's so refreshing to see a foreigner's point of view, usually you just see people fangirling over Japanese culture (myself included) that I forget the beauty & complexity that Chinese culture has.

I will decipher some of the words on the back of the plaque. The red stamped on word on the right is "吉祥". You can actually see the same on the right side in front. And then it says "台灣真好" and the next line is "平安". Finally, the last line, I think is the calligrapher's signature.
