台北, 我愛你
I've been in Taipei for four days now. I love it. I was stupid to worry about it, honestly. It's comfortable here. Taipei and I are old friends. It's almost like I never left.
The bad part is I'm still sick. About every other day my body's like "HEY! Guess what! You're getting better!", and I feel great. And then I wake up the next morning feeling like shit. Stop being an asshole, body.
Today is a shit day. Yesterday was lovely. It was 70 degrees (F) out. I didn't need a jacket. I didn't feel sick at all. I waked around central Taipei. I went to Ximending where accidentally spent more money on cosmetics than I had planned. I bought bubble tea. I took the subway to Sun Yat Sen Memorial Hall where there was some type of festival happening. I walked around the building, taking pictures, smiling at random babies and dogs (OMG ASIAN BABIES. They're almost enough to make me want to have kids. If I can be guaranteed an Asian baby, only then will I breed). I then walked from Sun Yat Sen Mem Hall to the Taipei 101 (~1 mile), where I window shopped, and ate Indian food and rose gelato.
It was a good day, in general.
Today, well, I don't know. I think I have a fever, my ear hurts, and my sinuses are hell. I don't get sick often, so when I do, I tend to overdo it (I pretend I'm not sick), and end up just getting sicker. I SHOULD spend the day resting. But knowing me I'll probably actually do something today. Probably nothing big, but it will be something. And then I'll be sicker tomorrow. *sigh*
Anyway, have some pictures I took here!
Flowers are blooming at Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall / Liberty Square park, the prettiest place in Taipei proper.
Also taken at Liberty Square park. It's so gorgeous there. The park is so nicely done that you almost forget you're in the middle of the city.
I fed the giant koi at Liberty Square park. I later found some left over fish food in my purse... The fish are slightly sluggish, as it's still relatively cold here (~60 degrees).
The National Concert Hall, as framed with a bridge over the Koi pond on the north side of Liberty Square park.
One of my more amusing pictures. I took this at the German Bakery in Tien Mu. The bunny bread is adorable, but what caught my eye was the "Devil's Fart"
The base of the Taipei 101 at night. There are these lovely lit-up columns that have the story of the Taipei 101 on them. They make for a lovely picture.
Sun Yat Sen Memorial Hall, and it's fountains. The fountain lights change color. It's beautiful, especially with the music playing in the background.
On a separate, random note - I started watching Secret Garden. I'm halfway through with it, and while I like and enjoy it, I am also baffled at how they're going to sustain it for another 10 episodes. I am also desperately obsessed with Director Jong Soo. I love him so so much. Also, it is really reminding me a lot of Bali, which is probably mostly because of Ha Ji Won, but also because Joo Won reminds me of a less crazy version of Jae Min. Kdramas make me hate rich people SO MUCH.
