We currently have AT LEAST two feet of snow on the ground, and last I checked, it was still snowing. *sigh*

I finished Gokusen 1, and holy crap did I love it! Seriously, I love it sooo much. The whole Shin x Yankumi thing was totally awesome. I mean, it is SO OBVIOUS he's in love with her, and it's all canon in the manga, so yeah. And at the end of episode 12 when he tells Shinohara, Tetsu, and Kashiwagi that he's competing with them for Yankumi!! SO CUTE!

But yeah, Other than squeeing over ships, I really did enjoy this series quite a bit. Kumiko is a really good female character. She's smart, capable, and totally kicks ass. But she's also silly, girly, and oblivious. She's just a real awesome, flawed character. The show itself is kinda ridiculous, but in a good way. A very good way.


Right now I'm on the hunt for the graduation special. So far I've unknowingly downloaded it with the wrong subs twice; once with Italian subs, once with German subs. To be fair, the one with german subs did not specify that it was german, and the one with italian subs only said something like "ITA", which could honestly mean anything... I've found an srt file, so now I'm just waiting on the raw. Weirdly, though SARS subbed the entire series (seasons 1-3), they didn't go the specials (they did the hana kimi one though....), but whatever. As long as I can eventually watch it I'll be good.

Also, this is the first series in a long time that I got into based on fanfic. I HAD started watching it prior to reading fic, but the fic is what kept me going, and really made me a fan. I love fanfic intensely, so if I get into fanfic for a series, I'll inevitably end up loving said series. That's what happened with Sailor Moon! I read fanfic before I even watched a single episode, and I totally loved that show for YEARS.


I'm only about 20 minutes into the first episode of Green Forest, My Home, and I can already tell the love triangle is going to break my heart. The same thing, like in Bull Fighting, with the loyal friend who is in love with the girl, but she's in love with someone else... I might end up liking Leon Jay Williams more than Ethan Ruan, but that's unlikely.

Some other "fun" facts about Green Forest, My Home;
- Esther Liu oddly looks like Qiao En in this drama...
- Leon Jay William's character apparently speaks mostly english in the drama. That should be fun!
- All the characters have chinese adopted english names (Su Fei = Sophie, Su Shan = Susan, Wei Lian = William, Ou Wen = Owen, etc)... like Da Wei (David) from Prince Turns to Frog!!
- Leon Jay Williams randomly reminds me of Gong Yoo...
- It's kinda hilarious seeing Ethan and Esther together, since Esther reminds me a great deal of Qiao En, so I'm naturally getting flashbacks to Fated to Love You... hmm... I should rewatch that sometime.
- Ethan is speaking in english and it's hilarious! Actually, he's pretty damn good!
- Esther is good with english too!
- Hehehe, there really IS a lot of english in this drama! Everyone is speaking it!
- And holy crap! Ethan is "playing" violin! Mmmmm violin....

So far the drama is good, but it's confusing me. I understand the basics, but the details are confusing.... Oh well. I'll figure it out soon enough!

Oh it's canon in the manga?! But yeah, I don't like the manga art so I probably won't read it anyway..
The bad thing about Gokusen (and a lot of series, probably) is that each season gets progressively worse, and progressively goofier. Also I just like MatsuJun, Narimiya Hiroki, and Oguri Shun better than the season two guys (I HATE Kamenashi Kazuya and Akanishi Jin; I enjoyed the slashability of Mokomichi and Teppei though), or season three (Nakama and Kiriyama are Johnny's and I should like them but I just caaaan't)

Tip: "ESP" is the tag they use for Spanish subs.

Apparently in the last chapter of the manga Shin tells her he loves her. I guess also, in volume 7 (or 8, I forget) one of the guys asks Shin if he likes Yankumi, and he says he does. So yeah. Canon.

Yeah, the manga art is kinda sucky. Well, not sucky, but not my style... either way, I actually might end up reading it (I already have read a bit) just because.

I think I'll watch the second season because I've heard some good things about it, but it won't compare to the first season. Plus, it's all different from the mangaverse, so it's not like it's even the REAL story anymore. Hehehe! The only guy I know in season 2 is Mizushima Hiro... I ended up knowing like all of the main guys in season 1 (Jun and Shun from HYD obviously, Ishigaki Yuma from Hana Kimi, and Narimiya Hiroki from Hachimitsu to Clover), which made me happy. I very rarely recognize japanese actors... *sigh* They should have just kept the original cast for the second season, and started the first season when they were in their second year, as per the manga. Oh wells.

Makes sense! Too bad occasionally I am quite senseless.

Also not really a reply, but I read a special chapter for Gokusen, and Shin and Yankumi totally make out in it... It's cute!

Actual reply; Who WOULDN'T read a cannablism fic?! Was it one of those crazy ones that Rob wrote about on pop paste?! If so, that makes it so much better! (I once read a crazy hermaphrodite Harry Potter story. It was one of the best/worst things I've ever read.)

YAY!! You know, that reminds me, I think one of the bad things about Gokusen 2 and 3 is that it totally ignores Shin. I mean I know he's graduated, but it's like all of a sudden he doesn't exist (Kuma pops up again though).

I knoooow! But I dunno, some people are squeamish and don't enjoy reading weird-ass shit like that! Nope, I found it all by myself! (And it was in Japanese) The dead guy had been murdered, and the guy who ate him, they were in a relationship, and so he ate him out of love (..if that makes sense). (By the way -> the guy dies in canon, but the rest is fiction)

I was terribly excited by it (involved me squealing like a maniac, and hoping up and down. I'm such a freaking girl)... I KNOW! I mean, he's SUCH a big part of the story... it's ridiculous that they just get rid of him! (I read! He must have been the only one willing to come back!)

Not me! I LOVE weird stuff. It makes me happy! (Wow! Quite a find, eh?! Actually, I meant, was it one of those ones where one person injests the other person alive...)

I suppose that makes sense, in a weird, extremely disturbing kind of way... But hey, that's what fanfic is for! Mmmm fanfic... I want to read some RIGHT NOW. And probably will...

(Ohhh, no. I can't remember, in that stuff, the person who got eaten would be ingested whole, right? Like by a snake or something? It wasn't about someone actually having flesh cut off and being eaten...right? OH YEAH!! There was a news article about..photoshopping pictures so women would have more than one set of breasts. (I like Kuma's character third, after Shin and Uchi... but out of them as actors, I like him last... mostly because I've never seen him in anything else, so yeah... Poor Kuma guy...)

Hehehehehehe!! It IS like boytaurs.... except they're women.... and have more boobs.... How is that sexy?! But then, how are boytaurs sexy....?)

Hehehe! I, on the other hand, didn't really like the hermaphrodite fic... It was slash, and for some reason, slash just doesn't do anything for me...
