Stuff of the day, and a poll

I've always liked Stephen Hawking. Especially when he makes statements like this. I think it's not only ridiculous, but entirely stupid to believe that there isn't intelligent life elsewhere in the universe. Hubris, thy name is humanity. I also love how he's all like "Look at us! If aliens are anything like us, we should be worried." I just love scientists. (side note: for a long time I wanted to be an astronomer, going so far as to study a bit at a local MIT observatory. I was all into it, until I realized it would be mostly radio astronomy, which I find boring...)
Speaking of astronomy, has everyone seen the AMAZING new sun images? Because you should. They're gorgeous.
Today
sn0tcat and I start our fitness/healthiness challenge. Wish me luck, because it'll be brutal. I've done highly reduced calorie diets before, and I've done more intense workouts before, but never at the same time. I figure if I get enough protein, I should be okay (protein is my biggest enemy, because I'm a vegetarian, I can NEVER get as much as I need. Stupid protein).
We're also going to watch some dramas simultaneously. We both enjoy the really really messed up beyond words dramas. We watched Byakuyako together, and both wildly loved it because it was SO out there. We decided to watch The Quiz Show first. I was supposed to watch some tonight, but I didn't... so tomorrow!
Today is Dae's birthday! Happy B-day Dae! He's 21, all grown up, can even drink in the US!
Oh, lastly! I've been thinking about this for awhile. Would anyone be interested in an package exchange? As you all know, I love other cultures, and love that I have online friends from all over the world. I also love getting packages in the mail! So my question is, does anyone else have any interest in this? It wouldn't be anything big. If there's enough people interested, I figure I could put something together.
(BTW, this is for everyone, not just for people in different countries. Inter-USA exchange is good too)

Date: 2010-04-26 07:55 am (UTC)Hehe, solar flares are a bit crazy though. The sun itself is scary, considering it will eventually incinerate the earth (in like, 4 billion years...)
Yay! I hope so! I love getting mail, and packages. Even more so when they're foreign! I hope I can set something up soon.
Love your icon, btw :D

Thank God, all of us are dust by then! LOL!
As for the icon, I can't get enough of GDYB these days! hehe! :)

Date: 2010-04-26 06:56 am (UTC)I'm not sure what you'd want from Arkansas - unless you want something from Toad Suck Daze. It's a huge festival my hometown has every year and it's this weekend, it's seriously a big deal down here haha.

Date: 2010-04-26 07:47 am (UTC)OMG You're from Conway?! Hahahaha awesome! I've been there a few times (my best friend lives there). She's mentioned the festival before, and it's interesting name.
What I was thinking for Inter-USA stuff would be like, regional stuff. Obviously you have stuff there that I can't get here in Massachusetts. Vice versa. Also just random stuff, because random stuff is cool :D

Date: 2010-04-26 07:49 am (UTC)I envy your work-moving. I want a travel job...
Ohhhh, now I'm curious... I wish I had thought to do this while living in Taiwan. Taiwan stuff is randomly hard to find anywhere but there (which makes no sense to me, because, like, everything used to be made there!), and they did have adorable things...
