2NE1 is going to be debuting in the US. I'm excited. I think they'll do well. The type of music they produce is far more conducive to American audiences. I mean, no offense to the Wonder Girls, but saccharine girl group pop hasn't been popular here since the early 00's. 2NE1's more edgy/sexy style and music is better suited to an American audience. Dara will REALLY have to cut down on all the aegyo though. America does not like cutesy that much. To the extent that even I (who haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaates aegyo and overly cute things - looking at you, Hello Kitty) have tastes that run far more in the cute range than most people.

YG is really pushing the international sell recently. YB's twitter and facebook pages, the international album, and now 2NE1's American debut... It makes me happy that the international fans are being recognized. And it's one step closer to a Big Bang, or YG family tour in the US. Because I SO need one. As you might imagine, it gets expensive flying to Korea to see BB.

There are so many releases coming out soon. Big Show 2010 DVD (I'm going to see if I'm in it somewhere...), YB's international album, Beautiful Hangover (I'm still going to buy it, despite not liking the song), and 2NE1's full album.

In other news... well, there is no other news, honestly. Which is why I've been MIA recently. I've been restless and depressed, which has manifested itself in me watching lots of (American) TV, and buying makeup. I buy makeup when I'm depressed. So yeah...

It's a tie between 2NE1 and SNSD (though, when pressed, I'd have to go with my YG-bias, and say 2NE1). I like 2NE1 for their music and style. Though I have to say, a huge part of my love for them is my love for Park Bom, who I wish I was best friends with (and it KILLS ME that she went to school in Boston, because I was RIGHT THERE!). SNSD because their music is fun and poppy, and I'm consistently amazed by their legs.

(I know the lyrics to most songs by heart (I memorize things set to music easily). But I'll pick something impressive. My mom loved Billy Joel, and as a result I grew up listening to his songs. However I did not much like this song when I was a kid. Probably because I didn't know what the hell he was talking about. My favorite part of the song is the "Belgians in the Congo" part, because it reminds me of Heart of Darkness, one of my favorite books)

Day 5 - Song that reminds you of someone
(This one was really hard for me, simply because I tend to associate everyone by songs/sounds. I picked this one because I love that I will ALWAYS associate this song with my dad. When I was a kid my mom used to sing to me a lot, and this was one of the songs she liked to sing [we're pretty Irish, which incidentally means I know a bunch of random Irish songs]. My dad used to joke with me about the part when the song goes "H, A, double-R, I, G, A, N - you see". He'd substitute the letter U and C in, so at the end he'd sing "Harriganuc".)

All things considered, I keep on top of Taiwanese entertainment news pretty well. I don't know HOW IN THE WORLD I could have missed this.

Taiwan is remaking Coffee Prince

Excuse me while I die of utter delight! And the best part is Ariel Lin is going to be playing Eun Hye's role. Ariel is one of my three favorite Asian actresses, and I've been impressed with her acting since day 1. She's one of the few Asian actresses that really wholly puts herself in the role, being unafraid of looking bad. Seriously, anyone who watched ISWAK knows that's she's not afraid to get into the roles. Dirty crying, and all. RUMORS are saying that Jerry Yan will play Gong Yoo's role, but honestly I hope not. Nothing against Jerry (especially since I quite like him), but he's not one of the best actors in the world. If I could choose, I would hope for Zai Zai, or Joseph Chang. Both are phenomenal actors, and play carefree playboys well.

In other awesome Twdrama news, they're finally picking Extravagant Challenge up again. Now, I've been waiting for this damn drama for years. It's based on Skip Beat, which I love. And it will also star Ariel (which we already knew). What IS new though, is that Jerry Yan (who was initially cast) is being replaced. Instead, we get two awesome alternatives! Siwon and Donghae from SuJu! Siwon and Donghae are my FAVORITE SuJu members! And they both have fantastic chemistry with Ariel (if you've seen her MV for 螢火蟲, you'd agree). I love that Siwon and Donghae are diving into a Taiwanese drama. I want so much for K-stars to pay more attention to Taiwan, and this is the best way. Especially with Ariel (who speaks Korean - she majored in it at university).

I'm so excited! Seriously, the only thing that could make it better would be Zai Zai (who I've always wanted Ariel to act with).

(This is truly my favorite song. And no, it's not Big Bang. SHOCK. I love Big Bang so so so much, but absolutely no music has touched me more than Silverchair's "Neon Ballroom" album did. Sometimes Daniel's voice makes me want to cry, it's so gorgeous. "Emotion Sickness" was the first Silverchair song I heard, and it changed my life.)

I'm on a weird fitness kick. Gym, exercise videos, diet stuff, all that.

The thing is, when I was in Taiwan, I walked everywhere, and got quite a workout everyday. At home I have a car. And it's cold as hell. Sooooo not much walking. Which means I get lazy, and lose my great workout.

In other news, I'm on season 3 of Inuyasha. It's been slow going as of late (I've been distracted by fanfic). But hey, the fact that I AM still watching it, over 60 episodes in, well, that's an accomplishment for me! There's still a bit to go before it breaks my "Longest Anime" record (which is TECHNICALLY Marmalade Boy, not counting Sailor Moon, since it was broken up).
