Holy crap! The subbing is going REALLY fast for My Queen episode 10!! I can't wait to get home tonight to watch it... again (but this time, actually FULLY UNDERSTAND it!)

I honestly have no idea why this drama isn't more popular. It's SO GOOD, and it's leading the ratings in Taiwan by a hugely significant margin. Not that ratings mean much of anything of course, but you'd think a popular show like that would translate overseas...

It's kinda sad that when I search for "Defeated Queen drama" on google, my blog is one of the first listed. (Weirdly before the Asianfanatics thread)

It's dramas like this that not only reaffirm by intense love of twdramas, they also remind me of why I love dramas to begin with. A lot of the times twdramas are silly and hugely overacted (part of the appeal, I say!), but sometimes they get things amazingly right, where everything falls into place, and you can't help but be sucked in to the awesomeness. The acting in this drama is particularly amazing. Cheryl is fabulous. FAB-U-LOUS. Ethan is pretty damn good as well (though overshadowed by the goddess that is Cheryl Yang).

Taiwan, you rock my world.

*sigh* I suppose I should do some actual work now instead of incessantly googling My Queen to find juicy spoilers/tidbits.

I totally cannot contain my love for this drama.

Re: My Queen. I find twdramas generally get less attention than j/kdramas (pity, say I!) and a lot of drama-watchers I know are caught in the BOF-fever, with not much room left for other dramas.

The twdrama that I know people on my flist are watching is To Get Her, and honestly that's the one I am following as well without having much interest in My Queen - I like quirky more than I do something set in an office (the only drama set in an office I managed to like is Sapuri) and TGH has Rainie, who a lot of people love and Jiro who is in Farenheit both of which probably explain the relative popularity of it on my flist.

I actually find ratings success domestically rarely seems to translate into what people on-line rave about - I am mainly familiar with kdramas, and I know that recent ratingspowerhouses like Yi San and Jumong and even East of Eden weren't really watched by anyone on my flist much (and soompi threads for Yi San and Jumong are kind of runty) and there are some lower-rated dramas a lot of flisters watched which I find interesting.

It is a pity! I think twdramas are fabulous as well!

I like Superstar Express a lot, but not enough to live watch it (I like very few dramas enough to live watch. The only one I've managed so far is BBF, and I'm behind on that even). I'll wait until the full series is out before I watch it seriously. I'm easily distracted, so watching stuff on viikii where I'll have to click to a different page to view the next part is not good; I almost always take random web surfing breaks in between, which leads to me losing interest fast.

For me, I like SE plenty, it's cute and adorable and everything (Rainie! JIRO! Squeeee!), but as much as I LOOVE idol dramas, I get sick of them occasionally. In fact, my favorite dramas ever are not typical idol dramas (stuff like Love Contract, Wish to See You Again, Summer Snow, etc). I think My Queen is a nice break from that. It's technically an idol drama, but not really. (I don't know if I'd call it an office drama per se, but then I don't know what you'd categorize as office drama. It's kinda like Hotaru no Hikari, where the office plays a definite role, but most of the action is outside of the office)

You know, I never thought of that; the combo if Rainie and Jiro, who are both well known outside of people who follow twdramas... that IS probably why there's a big response to it, as opposed to My Queen (Cheryl Yang isn't a huge star, and a lot of people dislike Ethan after Fated to Love You)... hmmm... interesting!

I haven't really followed drama ratings ever, so I'm unfamiliar with it. I know with American tv, at least, it tends to be the higher rated shows that get exported...

I finally give up - I must watch this "Defeated Queen" ASAP. WHere do you get subs/episodes from (if this is fine to ask).

I find that high-rated Korean and Japanese dramas always worked well for me, without any exception (well, apart from longer over 30 episodes Korean dramas that seem to be loved by Korean ratings. I can't watch anything as long to save my life). I more often find that my tastes are at odds with the on-line fandom, though not every time.

Yay! It's REALLY a good show, hopefully you won't be disappointed! Watch it, and share your views! I only know one other person ([livejournal.com profile] seven_trees) who's watching it, but she agrees that it's amazing!

It's still airing, so I watch them streaming at viikii. The episodes are here. Intangible Fansubs has 1-4 subbed already. You can find those here.

I haven't really paid attention to ratings in the past, but I DO know this drama is leading the ratings in Taiwan for sunday night against some other big dramas like Superstar Express.

I think my tastes are a little at odds with the fandom's as well. I tend to like most everything, but really love the ones that most people don't love. And I'm STILL loving Boys Before Flowers, fandom be damned!

Thank you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I also still like BoF!!

If you see the results from ambergold's poll and the poll I did in dorama_chat (here: http://community.livejournal.com/dorama_chat/337394.html#cutid1 and here: http://community.livejournal.com/hydkorea/306790.html ) you would see that Jun Pyo and the rest are doing pretty well, I think it must be the corner of the fandom I happened to be that doesn't like him!

No problem! It's such a great show, more people should be watching it!

I'm in that corner of the fandom as well, because I think you're the only person on my flist who's still enjoying it! I'm happy about the polls though! Us BBF supporters may not be as vocal, but we have larger numbers ;P
