Thanks everyone for the responses yesterday. It really helps to talk about stuff! I promise, it's not that bad, and I'll respond to stuff soon. Right now I'm dead tired. For the first time, I went to the Danshui riverfront.

By the waterfront. The picture is looking towards Taipei (though it's quite a distance away).
We were actually there to find the KTV place, but we didn't find it, and instead went to a Night Market, and walked along the riverside park. Granted I haven't seen a ton of it, but I adore Danshui. It reminds me of home, more specifically Hampton.

While in the night market, dodging various scooters and trucks (we were concerned about the traffic at first when we got here. Now I'm jaded to it. You learn to weave in and out of them), I apparently encountered my first whiff of Stinky Tofu. It really wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be. Two Danshui local food specialties I want to try are Iron eggs and A-Gei. Lisa's had iron eggs, and offered me some, but, um, they're not very appetizing looking (remind me of century eggs, which I still can't stomach the thought of eating). Though since reading the description of them I think I might like them. A-gei looks good (think Inari sushi, except with noodles instead of rice), and I think I can successfully avoid the fish paste.

I shopped around a little bit for the first real time since coming here at a couple little shops in Danshui. I stopped by a stall that had hand carved horn and shell combs, and bought a little one. We then went into a small cute shop, and I grabbed up an adorable headband I loved. Both cost me a total of NT$200, which is less than US$6.

My headband, comb, and some random shells we fond by the riverside. We think someone was selling them and dropped a bunch. I first thought they were bird poop... I have horrible night vision.

I'm not sure what we'll do tomorrow. I REALLY want to go find Korean music, and there's so much more to do. It's still hot as hell, but I'll deal. I also have to buy one of my nephews something. It's his birthday on the 22nd, but boys are SO hard to buy for. Especially 15 year old boys.

OH! I almost forgot. I'm not the type of person who believes in ghosts, but I swear I saw two of them last night in my room. Course it could have been because I had just woken up, and saw the outline of the wall through my clothes. But it was pretty convincing to me at 4:30am. Scared the shit out of me. Dans
