Question for the masses!

So the other day I was looking through my drama chart, and noticed a bit of a trend. A lot of times I tend to stop watching dramas around episode 8 or so.
Sometimes this is the middle point (kdramas), sometimes it's near the end (jdramas), and sometimes it's near the beginning (twdramas/cdramas). So I can't say it's because of the stage of the series.
My guess is that that's just how much I can handle watching straight through. Usually when I start a drama I flail over it, and watch a bunch of episodes at once. But after awhile I get impatient, and inevitably watch the ending, which makes me not want to finish the rest (this is EXACTLY what I do with books too).
So my question: is there any point in a drama where you get sidetracked?
(Note: I'm also a lot less patient now than when I first started watching dramas. I mean, hell, I got through 36 hours of Fated to Love You, and over 20 hours of A Game About Love [which is the most boring drama I've watched ever]... but now? I must be getting old ;P )

Date: 2010-01-11 01:06 am (UTC)I'm the opposite when it comes to patience -- kdramas used to be torture, I had the hardest time sitting still for 60+ minutes no matter how much I was enjoying it. Now I inhale multiple eps a day without breaking a sweat. Korea gave me back my attention span. XD

I mean just last night, I managed to finish episode 32 of Queen Seon Dok and it was the most boring episode so far.
The whole episode was just about the three meanings behind the name of their country Shilla.
Flashback galore baby!

Date: 2010-01-11 01:55 am (UTC)There are quite a few dramas that I haven't watched all the way through. Sometimes I just don't bother with the last episode; other times, I simply give up on the show halfway through.
Sometimes it's because the story starts to drag, or because the story is too intense and I'm afraid of an ending I won't like.

No template, once day I spent about three hours creating the thing. You're free to steal it if you like! I'll see if I can make a template and upload it.

Date: 2010-01-11 04:09 am (UTC)I drop a drama if I get extremely annoyed by supporting characters, who have no redeeming qualities and are merely clingy and vengeful, or who are all too perfect second fiddles. Sadly, that describes most of the dramas I've heard of, so I can't say I've finished watching a lot of dramas.
