I finally watched the first episodes of Pasta today, and I already know I'll love it. It's exactly the type of thing I love: adult slice of life drama without any outside angst.

Yes, it reminds me of Triple. A lot. But in my case, that's amazing. I love Triple so much. It's probably the only drama I know that I will get insanely protective over. I know everyone is entitled to their opinion, but if you're badmouthing Triple, I'm not going to want anything to do with you (at least in drama-world).

I was reading dramabeans recaps (since the subs aren't out for episodes 2-4 yet), and I saw that she had compared Pasta to Triple, talking about how it's laid-back. But then said how it was more eventful than Triple, which is what made it better. But I half wonder if things don't get more action-ey, if it will be relegated to the trash pile because it doesn't have explosions, or massive angst.

The thing I don't get about a lot of people is that they start watching a drama that is CLEARLY one genre, and complain about it being just that. Triple was called boring, slow, not enough action. I don't get it! From the beginning you know it's a slice of life drama. Slice of life dramas are, in their very nature, slow. To complain about it being that seems stupid to me. It's like complaining about a cracky jdrama being too cracky. I know what I like, and I know what I don't like. I don't like historical dramas. Why would I watch one, and then complain about it being too historical? Makes no sense.

I think, in general, I'm pretty accepting of other's opinions. I know what I like is not what most people like, and that's okay with me. One man's trash is another's treasure, you know? But silly stuff like this... sometimes it just pisses me off. It's constant negativity, which I hate.

But the thing is - it will be relegated to trashpile if it DOES have explosions or massive angst - she hated Iris, really disliked Legend and Swallow the Sun, now is disliking Chuno, and is always like that about and all other actiony/epicky dramas I can think of, not to mention any angsty melodrama you care to name except for Christmas.

And yeah, she isn't into slice-of-life - I haven't seen Triple but she really disliked Worlds Within which is the most slice-of-life kdrama I have ever seen.

I think if you go to dramabeans for opinions on any genre other than a trendy romcom/teen one, you'll find she seems not to care for it. Which is fine but I now know it and skip her reviews accordingly.

Re: genre limitations. That never made sense to me - e.g. I will likely never watch Hon because I am wussy about horror and I will likely never watch any family dramas like Assorted Gems, Creating Destiny etc because I find myself disengaged when the story revolves around the whole family. But that's the thing - I know that and judge it accordingly. I am never going to claim Hon or Hometown of Legends or Smile You or whatever suck just because they happen to be horror/family - that's bizarre.

I was thinking more of the commenters on dramabeans than of javabeans herself. They piss me off way more than her. Like, I know she watches the shows because she's in the business of it.

But yeah, I don't get why she dislikes so many genres! But oh well... I still like reading her recaps, I just skip the reviews at the end :D

OMG I know. I just don't understand people. Why watch something when you know you're going to hate it? And then, why spread that hate around? It's crazy.

Stupid fandom aside, I'm thrilled you liked Pasta! It was so low-key I didn't think it'd be a drama I obsessed over, but I keep refreshing WITHS2 looking for new subs.

I adored it! I kinda knew I would when I found out what it was about, and who was in it. And then the opening scene... it was just all too perfect!

(also: OMG LOVE your icon. Love. Love. Love. Love. Incest has never looked so good [was that too creepy? Yes? No? I'm gonna go with no...])

Wow! you're really a great fan of Kdrama. XD
I've watched the whole episodes of Triple, it was quite interesting, and quite boring though. But I enjoyed it. Pasta? I haven't seen it, but I'll try to. Since your loving it, maybe I'll be liking it too.^^

BTW, thanks for adding me as a friend. I love reading your entries.:))

So far I really l;iked what I saw of "Pasta", and yes - it feels a bit like Triple" (not surprisingly as Lee is in the main role) and a bit like "Coffee Prince". Like it!

I don't really rely much on dramabeans opinions - I don't feel as if they are always objective.
