PotC: On Stranger Tides

uiscerosWell... I'm not really sure I'm going to like this. Like I tweeted, it's not really Pirates to me without Keira Knightley. Elizabeth is my favorite character. I love her. She is the emitome of kickass awesomness. I mean, she starts out life being coddled and treated like a doll. And then she realizes more than everything, she wants freedom. That is amazing to me.
Or, to quote myself four years ago;
"Despite the utterly lust inducing Jack, Elizabeth is my favorite character. She is what I would like to be, what I hope someday to be; a genuine kickass heroine. Someone at the precipice of her life, deciding between the way everyone else thinks she should go, and the way she wants to go."
Without Elizabeth, the movie is kinda dead for me. I love Jack (I NAMED MY CAT AFTER HIM), but without the feminine foil of Elizabeth, it's all just blah.
No to mention most of the characters are missing - Cotton, Marty, Pintel, Ragetti... Plus, while Ted and Terry are still the writers (I'm still kinda pissed at them though - they REALLY let me down in the last movie), Gore is not the director. It's like a whole new movie, not at all connected. Besides Jack and Gibbs...
Plus, I'm not the hugest fan of Penelope Cruz. So there's that.
