For the first time in, oh, more than a year I am completely and utterly clueless about currently airing dramas. I can only name about 7, which is INSANE.

On top of that, I'm only watching one (kinda).

I've been following You're Beautiful, if not necessarily watching it as it airs. I have all the episodes downloaded, but I've only watched one full episode so far. I'm still highly amused that it stars Jang Geun Seuk, who I previously only knew as a musician. I seriously didn't know he was an actor at all... when I first saw him, I was like ".... hey, 'Toucholic'!"

And, well, that's is. I occasionally download and watch random things. Like right now I'm trying Fantasy Couple. I tried watching Next Stop Happiness, but honestly, it was too baffling for me to watch without subs (and without the use of rewind and pause so I could read the Chinese). And I wasn't excited enough about it to download. So whatever. I'm not huge on family stories anyway (I really just don't like children in dramas [should probably make the "in dramas" part clear...]).

WHICH REMINDS ME!

I wonder sometimes about this. I DO NOT consider myself having completely watched a drama if I've fast-forwarded through any part of it. But I know that some people do it. I don't know why though. I often find a lot of detail in the smaller parts. It's kinda like cheating to me. Like skimming a book and saying I've read it. (Of course I know different people have different watching styles, but I just can't do it that way)

I'm a completest to a fault. If I miss, or don't understand something, I will rewind and rewatch until I do (and believe me, sometimes it takes a lot of rewinding). I wonder if this is why it often takes me a long to watch stuff as compared to others.

We're getting residual typhoon rain, so it's been gross the past few days. Tonight we're going to chill and watch The Frighteners, and I'm going to drink some heavily sweetened Oolong Tea (not fancy tea, I wouldn't dare to sweeten that!). And tomorrow we might go to Alleycats for some good Western style pizza (WITHOUT CORN, thank God... weird Taiwan and it's corn), and maybe some shaved ice (oh God, is shaved ice amazing, seriously, I wasn't too convinced at first, but seriously, the stuff is magic and so good).

再見, 我的電腦朋友!

SHAAAAAAAVED IIIIIIIIIIIIIICE. Or rather, shaved MILK.

Are you ready to watch the movie now? I am, so if you want to go ahead and start it now then we might as well watch it now (let's see how many times I can say "now"..)

IT'S SO GOOOOOOOOD! Like seriously, I was surprised! When I first heard about Taiwan's penultimate dessert, I was underwhelmed, like really, Taiwan? Shaved ice? ICE? But God is it good. We should do it! I mean, if we do go to AC, it's only two stops in the wrong direction.

Okay! I'll... get stuff ready (which means NOTHING, save perhaps grabbing a blanket...)

Yeah, I mean, shaved ice covered in fruit sounds pretty tasty, but not THAT amazing and it's not like other countries don't do it. We should! Especially if AC's only dessert is tiramisu.

Okay! I'll..get ready as well! (and by that I mean get a blanket, and...yeah...)

You're making me wish it was cold here XP Well actually not TOO cold, cause I don't have good cold clothes lol. This morning it was chilly and my hoodie felt nice, but I had to take it off around noon! But at least it was sunny so I could do laundry~ ♥

Actually I don't really know how the weather is in Taiwan. So how is it? XD Does it just get colder later there? Although it's not super chilly here, but it's not hot either (like it usually is in Atlanta. Though people are always surprised when I say, oh yea PA is much more humid then Atlanta is! LOL I don't know, maybe it's just the area I lived in PA? But it always seemed much more humid there than it ever has here!)

I like the type of weather when you can wear a nice comfy hoody or jacket outside!! That's my favorite weather! I'm making some oven roasted corn right now :3! The only thing better is to not be lonely eating it LOL

I actually really like laundry that is dried outside with the wind and the sun! The fresh air makes clothes smell really nice! But there's no where to do it here XD!

I wonder sometimes about this. I DO NOT consider myself having completely watched a drama if I've fast-forwarded through any part of it. But I know that some people do it.

You put me to shame. Only about 30% of the dramas I have seen I watched in their entirety. I often get way too tired with unnecessary secondary characters and Korean/Japanese humour is not my thing - it is too OTT. But to be fair, these 30% are the dramas that are in my faves .

It often interests me to see how other people watch things. I have a feeling a lot of people fast forward, and I completely understand doing that. Boring characters and what not, plus not having the time or energy to get through it all (something I've very recently discovered ;D ). It makes sense, especially if you just want to know what happens (like how I read books; I read the beginning, then the end, and finally the middle), I just can't do it.

A lot of times I wish I could though! I mean, I sat through about 15 unnecessary episodes of A Game About Love... I also pushed myself through possibly the most boring books I've ever read in my life (Star Wars: The Black Fleet Crisis Trilogy, FYI) just so I could say I had read all the Star Wars books.

It's a sickness ;P

!!! Next Stop Happiness is so NOT a family story!!! haven't you been reading mine and [livejournal.com profile] dangermousie's posts on Autumn's Concerto?? it's an angsty, delicious love story with hurt/comfort, good-girl-reforming-bad-boy, hockey, evil stepfather ala Mars, and tons of themes taken straight from both Mars and the Outsiders, while managing to have its only lovely delicate bitterwsweet vibe at the same time!

anyway...all of which is to say, you should watch until at least the end of the 2nd episode:) - 2nd ep is where I was hooked.

also, how can you resist Vanness?

I meant family story in where eventually there is a kid. I don't like the the whole surprise!baby storyline, or really any storylines where the main characters have children even if it hasn't happened so far in the drama. Incidentally this is why I could never finish Thank You or even really Koizora. Kids = the kiss of death for me.

Thing is, I'm trying not to watch Taiwanese dramas/movies/shows with subs anymore (trying to improve my Mandarin :D ) so if I AM going to watch something, it has to be something I'm really going to devote myself to. Nothing has seemed promising enough yet.

Ah Vanness... I do adore him, but he's the only person in the drama I care about (besides Figaro) so it's not enough to get me to watch right now. Maybe later when I'm not so busy ;P

I have an almost pathological resistance to ffing; I'm always afraid I'll miss that one pivotal scene that explains everything or adds some touch of subtlety to make me completely revise my opinion of a character. (It's happened.)

The only times I can remember ffing are during dramas I just didn't care that much.

Yay! Someone who shares my viewpoint! I feel the same, like I'll miss something wicked important, and have no idea what's happening later on.

I know I'd have some issues if I skipped around, because like you said, it's often the small things that will change my mind about a character totally (for example, with Triple, I changed my mind COMPLETELY about Soo In during the "boring" moments).

Same for me. I fast forwarded through most of Meteor Garden 2 because it was horrible, and I needed to know what happened. But I don't consider myself having watched it fully.

I am like that too. I am crazy about seeing ALL of something. If I don't watch (and pay attention to) every scene, I don't consider that I've seen it. Who knows what I missed? It could have been important! It extends to always finishing episodes/movies, even when I hate them, although I've been trying to break myself of that, that is just pain. I have never fast-forwarded, if I couldn't watch it without fast-forwarding, I can't watch it at all.

Woo, completists! : )

Yay Jang Geun Suk!! I've loved him sing the Hong Gil Dong drama! (Did you watch that one btw? He played prince Chang Hui in it.)I've been downloading the new dramas, that one plus heading to the ground and now Iris (TOP!!), but haven't been able to watch anything because I have alot of other stuff to watch that is still old. (I still gotta watch byakuyakou man!)

I couldn't say I watched something and have fast forwarded through it! (Though one time a group of us decided, we're going to see the last matrix movie at the theaters! But I had NEVER seen even one matrix movie at the time. So they had the first two and we watched them on fast forward lol only stopping at important parts and they paraphrased for me XD!!) Anyway back on topic, I'm someone who would rewind and watch a part again too! I'm also someone who if a part of a movie or even a part of a book was esp. cute or something I'd go back and rewatch it or reread it multiple times before moving on haha XD~

You were the one who first introduced him to me! I adore him in You're Beautiful, but have yet to see Hong Gil Dong. It's a historical, right? I tend not to race to watch historicals for some reason. (OMG I KNOW! I can only handle one airing drama at a time, so unfortunately IRIS is the one on hold [cute romance will usually win over angsty-ness for me], but TOP!!!!) Ah, Bya... you SOOOO have to watch it. We STILL reference it.

Yay! I was beginning to believe that I was in the minority with my watching! (I've done that before... often times with movies. If only just to see what it's about.)

Yay I feel proud to do so XD! Yea Hong Gil Dong is historical, but it's also got kind of a modern twist to it and the characters are all really lovable and fun. I think you'd enjoy it! For me Korean historical dramas are the most interesting. I tried watching some historical Japanese stuff, but it's always so serious like a bio drama LOL.(Plus the way they talk is old style and hard to understand!) I wish they did something more fun with it though!

I totally feel the same way about fast-forwarding. I'd be too worried that I'd miss a big reveal and then spend all sorts of time rewinding and ending up spending more time than I needed too. I just do not understand people who fastforward.
