Awhile ago I kinda promised/hinted at my top drama lists. I have a top ten for jdramas, a top 5 for twdramas, and a top 3 for kdramas. I kinda wanted to make it fancy, and I might still one day, but as for now, I'm content with just posting it.

I'm doing 10 jdramas, 5 twdramas, and 3 kdramas because of my viewing habits. I've watched way more jdramas than anything else. Or at least, I've finished more jdramas than anything else (I start twdramas a lot, but don't finish them a lot), and I haven't watched many kdramas at all. So yeah. I also want to do a top asian movie list sometime too, but I'll stick with this for now.

So here is my top 10 jdramas. The other lists will come shortly (I have them written already, so there shouldn't be that much delay).

I've been collecting images on my work computer for awhile now, so I decided to do a random picture post. I have a mix of stuff; Kpop and Jdrama related.

I'll do Zai Zai's picspam tonight, hopefully. Last night was distinctly unfun, what with the exercising, and then the sleeping. I didn't even got to finish Sekachu! But anyway, pictures.

Park Bom is gorgeous, and I hate her for having amazing perfect skin.
The rest! )

You know, I was watching one of 2NE1's performances, and the crowd cheers for Park Bom in the same way they do for YB. Whenever YB does a solo, the crowd chants "DONG YOUNG BAE" (his name). Whenever Park Bom sings her solo parts in songs, the crowd chants "PARK BOM". It's adorable. I love Park Bom.

(BTW, the BB pics are from either allkpop, or k bites. The park bom pic is from YG ladies, and obviously I took the caps.)

Tomorrow I'm invited to an awards ceremony at work (where I may, or may not be getting an award... I'm not exactly sure how it works), so I inevitably have to dress girly and fancy. I work in an extremely casual environment (as long as we wear lab coats and safety glasses we're fine), so I like, don't have clothes to wear. I'm going to have to dig in my closet. Maybe I can fake the illusion of fancy clothes by wearing heels...

I also joined a gym today, so I get to have fun gym-times tomorrow. I also, of course, do not own work out clothes. This is going to be a fun filled day, clothes wise.

But, main topic; all day today I flailed over the awesomeness that is Mukai Osamu. As I have stated previous, I fell in love with dear Osamu in Hachimitsu to Clover, and often try to explain his hotness in that drama. But I apparently never capped the thing. So tonight, I decided to dig out the old H&C DVDs, and cap him. Of course, then I got caught up watching the drama, and had to stop myself. H&C is my favorite jdrama, and very nearly my favorite drama ever (It's current position is third, only next to Love Contract and Coffee Prince).

... I randomly just left to feed a raccoon (who was eating squirrel food) some of my light oatmeal bread. Hey, you never know, it could be counting calories too!

Anyway, so I decided to take some caps of Osamu in Hachimitsu to Clover, because apparently not that many people have seen it, which is a TRAVESTY, because it's SO GOOD. So much so that I basically refuse to watch the anime or the twdrama because I would immediately hate them because they are not jdrama H&C.

But regardless, enjoy the Osamu.

This boy is teh sex...
Random caps from episode 1-4 of H&C. Mostly Osamu being hot... )

Wish to See You Again, episode 12 )

End stream of conciousness! GOD I love this series.

HEY! At the end of the episode, there was an ad for Honey and Clover (taiwanese edition)... and weirdly enough, I knew it was Honey and Clover from one single still shot... I recognized the Mayama character's trench coat! I like how in the taiwanese version, they make the Mayama character (Den Zhen Shan) the more central character, instead of the Takemoto character (An Zhu Ben). I think it's because Joe Cheng is the most popular, so they naturally top billed him.

(Random ass note, the guy who plays Ren Sen Tian (Morita-san) in Honey and Clover, was totally in Scent of Love!)

I have notes for Ying Ye 3+1 ep 2 as well, but they're not ready for release yet. I wish I could watch more, alas, I must sleep. Mondays are rough on my drama schedule. I watch The Sarah Connor Chronicles, and True Blood, so I don't get much drama action.

I finished watching Hachimitsu no Clover. I LOVED IT SOOOO MUCH. It was perfect, EXACTLY what I needed. Apparently I needed a malancholic story about growing up and finding yourself. Takemoto-kun's story really touched me, because while he didn't have ANY real aspirations (whereas I have too many), we both are clueless as to how to live our lives.

spoilers )

But yeah, it's an AMAZING series, really. I wish it were longer, or had another season! Now I want to watch First Kiss again... I need to watch more jdramas!

So the other day I wrote about the best sesame bean curd EVERRRRR. Tonight I got some yummy vegetable udon from the same place (it was cheap too! The udon and some rice was only like $7!). I like udon. My family doesn't really, they think it's slimy... Incidentally, I'm always amused when I find japanese dishes at a chinese resaturant. Not that it's uncommon, but it still amuses me. My favorite chinese restaurant serves a TON of polynesian dishes...

I started watching the 3rd episode of Love Storm, and hey, Megan Lai appeared! She was REALLY pretty in it too.

I could talk more about how my life is currently intensely stressful right now, but nah. Dramas are more fun.

Sometimes in Honey and Clover, they play the ending song, and the lyrics are shown in romaji. I get all confused, because I'll see a word like "ni", or "wo", and I'll automatically think Mandarin, and translate it as such. Stupid mandarin and japanese, trying to screw with me!

I want to continue watching Bull Fighting, but it's no subbed fully yet...

So I might watch another jdrama. Lisa, should I watch Last Friends, or will it break my heart (*cough* Summer Snow *cough*). Also, you should totally watch Honey and Clover. Toma-kun is so endearingly adorable, I just want to kidnap him (but not in a scary way, in a "OMG you're so cute I love you" kinda way...)

Drama/Anime List update 24Sep08 )

Yay! One more off the list!

EDIT: Oh! I forgot to mention! I finally learned how to hold chopsticks the "right" way (Chinese style). I'm glad I learned the other way first though, because there really was no way I would have been able to even hold the damn things the correct way when I first learned.

Also, I totally ate salad using chopsticks today! And they were japanese style disposable chopsticks, so I got to break them apart! And I didn't mess them up either! Yay me!

I love Takemoto-kun and Hagu-chan's relationship so much! It's one sided love, but it's so sweet, and lovely. Even thought Hagu-chan doesn't love him, she's still so amazing to him. When watching dramas, I usually, weirdly, abandon my gender, and am more empathetic towards the guys. But, even though Takemoto-kun is my favorite character, I still completely adore Hagu-chan and Ayumi-chan. They're really deep characters. I just really really LOVE Hachimitsu to Clover.

Oh, and random, but I'm watching Hachimitsu to Clover, and there's a cute part where Hagu-chan writes inspiration stuff on Takemoto-kun's food, and I saw THIS.

Hot and Juicy

Because Instant noodles are apparently "hot and juicy"...

OMG honey and clover totally rocks my world. Seriously. Toma-kun continues to wear the awesome Boston Univsersity sweatshirt (squee!!), and in the last episode his friends uncovered his large porn stash! So cute!

I was practicing my Mandarin tones last night, and I seem to have finally gotten the fourth tone (descending), but now I'm having trouble with the second tone (rising). Whenever I pronounce it, it sounds like the third tone (wiki calls it the "dipping tone")... So yeah. Tonal issues abound.

(Randomly, on the wiki page for Mandarin, it has some sample phrases, and one of them is; "How much will it cost to get to Munich?" (Dào Mùníhēi xūyào duōshǎo qián?).... odd. Also odd, but for some reason, other than english, the foreign language I hear spoken the most in dramas is german. It's weird, and funny... last episode of Honey and Clover a character spoke german. And I totally understood what he said! Dao Ming Si spoke german in Meteor Garden too... granted he wasn't any good at it, but whatever.)

I feel like doing nothing today. I'm so damn tired, and just sick of work. I'm so sick of work it's not even funny.

Quick note before I leave work for the day (yes, I am STILL at work...);

I absolutely freaking ADORE Hachimitsu to Clover. It's like, one of the best dramas I've ever seen. It's so sad, and sweet, and heartbreaking. I feel so bad for all of the characters, all tangled up in their life and loves.

Obviously, I feel the worst for Takemoto-kun, but Ayumi-san's situation breaks my heart. It seems that noone, in this drama, will ever be happy.

It's not tragic, in any sense, but it is is distinctly sad.

I'm going to watch Feng Mi Xing Yun Cao at some point, so I can compare. I wonder how the plot will be handled... twdramas almost always have a happy ending, so I would like to see how they work with a distinctly sad storyline.

Narumi Riko is utterly adorable, but I don't really like Ito Chiaki... granted I've only seen pics, but whatever. Also, it's kinda weird that she's in the taiwanese version, since she's japanese, and stuff...

And I have to go home now! FINALLY.

I'm STILL at work. Because apparently my computer doesn't want to play Bull Fighting, I decided to rewatch some of Love Contract. Rewatching it makes me realise just how goddamn much I love it

Love Contract: Ending anaylsis! Also, comparisons to Summer Snow and Honey and Clover, and the differences between different asian countries dramas )

Now that I'm done analysing dramas (I can't help it, I analyse everything. Incidentally, why I'm so damn good at sorting out meaning from poetry, and film... and stuff. That, and I think in metaphors)...

By the time I get out of here, I'll have spent nearly 11 hours at this place. Gah! And dear God is it cold here....

OMG do I love Chinese rap and metal! I especially like when they combine.

And geez, can the S.H.E. girls sing! Hebe and Selina have really nice voices, but Ella's voice is the best. It's really lovely! I wish I could sing (well). BTW, Ella is the Mizuki character in the taiwanese Hana Kimi.

Lisa-> I totally wrote a response to your email yesterday, but lucky me, accidentally deleted it. And now I like, don't have the energy to rewrite it! I'll respond... eventually!

Although I am seriously in the middle of watching three dramas, I'm thinking about watching another one. I've only watched the first episode of Bull Fighting and 1 1/2 episodes of Honey and Clover so far. I'm watchin Goong oddly... I kinda started in the middle. I'll watch it fully eventually, but whatever.

dramas... again )

I have other news, but I'm too tired to write it now...

Random bit of news that is exciting to me, but probably noone else; DoReMii is subbing Love at First Fight!! Squee!
