I decided to follow the rest of my peeps, and do my top 12 drama boyfriend list.

In response to [livejournal.com profile] cranberrysheep's Drama Boyfriend Playoffs, I listed my top 12 (well, technically it was 13, but who's counting) ideal drama boyfriends. And then [livejournal.com profile] ambergold and [livejournal.com profile] princess_dexter made more detailed posts, and well, I decided to as well!

And because I wanted pictures (and since a lot of my choices are from dramas I watched ages ago, when I didn't know how to screencap) I didn't have any ready to use caps, so I spent awhile going through my big ol' folder of drama discs. But this also meant I spent awhile rewatching my favorite parts of various dramas. But I'll get to that later.

Amusingly about half are from twdramas. Apparently I still love me some Taiwanese men after all ;P. Oddly, a lot of my choices are from unpopular dramas as well. And I totally have actor repeat offenders (three of them, actually!)

Anyway, list! (Note, the frst 5 aren't really in any concrete order. I love them all too much to choose between them)

I've been meaning to write this entry for awhile, actually. Awhile back I stumbled on a bunch of Chinese celebrity baby/childhood pictures. It was AWESOME. I love baby pictures.

Anyway, they're all Taiwanese (save 2), and all adorable!

The Girls! (Jolin a geek?! Rainie with a mushroom haircut?!) )

The Guys! (Including possibly the worst picture of Will Pan EVAR, and Wu Zun looking like a chick) )

And because it wouldn't be fun without it...
My own baby picture! )

All of the pictures (save mine, of course) are from Cfensi

What with everyone doing their picspams for [livejournal.com profile] picspammy, I was like "I want to do one tooooo", so I did!

This is the first one I thought of. It's not a scene, rather a sequence of scenes with one common theme. Be warned MAJOR spoilers for the end of Love Contract. It's most of the last episode.

Love Contract, episode 20 )

I warn people when watching Love Contract, because the ending is abrupt, tragic (and the other two endings are seriously odd), but it's worth seeing. I think Mike is most beautiful here, when he's not too perfect. Ariel is fabulous, as always, playing totally against type. And wow, their chemistry. Amazing.

Now I want to rewatch it...
uisceros: (Rui Jia)
I adored Summer's Tail. It had a slow languorous pace, but still managed to be frantic when it needed to be. It had beautiful music. The characters were great; I cared for each and every one of them. It was a great movie, not in the same way Eternal Summer is, but lovely nonetheless.

I'm (probably) going to write a full review at some point. But not right now. Still feel crappy. I took ~120 screencaps. Most of them of Rui Jia, who I love EVEN MORE now. He's quickly moving up my list of hot guys I'm in love with. I knew he was special when I saw him in Love Contract.

Apparently I REALLY like Taiwanese movies. Every single one I've seen I've loved. I think Eternal Summer has to be one of my favorite movies OF ALL TIME, and I've seen a lot of movies. It's that good (I totally rewatched it today).

Summer's Tail was filmed in Tainan. I was never really interested in going to Tainan in particular, but this film really showed the beauty of the county.

Mini Summer's Tail picspam )

I just randomly stumbled upon the official Love Contract site. Xiao Feng was supposed to be 21, and Ah Ken was supposed to be 23. Ariel Lin WAS 21 at the time. Mike was 20... He sure didn't look 23.... Rui Jia was 19, he was supposed to be 21. Conversely Lin Yi Hong was 24, playing 21.

Ages interest me...

Since my last post on current taiwanese tv got a good response, I figured I'd post a continuation. Out of all asian entertainment, I know the most about Taiwan. Taiwanese entertainment is my passion. Overall, people generally tend to prefer Korea or Japan, so I thought I'd give some love to my favoritest place in the whole world; Taiwan.

Upcoming Taiwanese Dramas )

I'm sure I missed a lot (including Momo love, Aaron Yan's upcoming drama), but whatever.

By the way, I totally did something similar to this in December. I've posted it below. (Notice the lack of fangirling on Boys Before Flowers? I thought it was going to suck)
Upcoming 2009 dramas! (Dated from 18Dec08 )

I finally finished 35 icons, so I'm going to post them! Yays! The subject matter is really all over the place... But yeah, enjoy!

It's good to see that the Edison Chen scandal didn't totally ruin Cecilia Cheung's life!
Deborah Lai confirmed Cecilia's second baby; Patrick Tse wants twins

*Dies!!* My dream of cross agency co-operation is coming true!! Mike, Joe, AND Qiao En in a commercial! So excited to see it when it comes out on youtube! (Article also totally mentions Mike's birthday! I meant to do a picspam celebration (mostly as a present for me...), but didn't get around to it.)
Mike He and Joe Cheng both appear like strangers

I'm now EVEN MORE excited for Starlit. Previously, the print ad was enough to make me want to see it, but these trailers make it so much better!! Jerry Yan + piano + tragic car accident involving broken hands + Terri Kwan without the ridiculous extensions they made her wear in WtSYA + angst = DRAMA GOLD.
4 New Trailers for Jerry Yan's "Starlit"; "Starlit" OST

I like the title of this story (it totally make Qiao En sound like a prostitute!) Plus, I ♥ Qiao En! She has a western boyfriend! How adorable! I'm still MingEn all the way though...(I know I'm being redundant in my news, but I thought this one was interesting because I never knew that Mike and Joe had issues with their friendship.... ohhh now I see why. (Hehehehe! Brokeback relationship! Even if Joe was in love with Mike, which I very much doubt he is, it'd be adorable! Joe is rather androgynous, and Mike is so pretty. So it works out...)
Chen Qiao En wanders between two men, passionately hugs Joe Zheng to earn money, rushes towards foreigner boyfriend

Um, crazy fans much?! Poor Alan! Apparently he can never get any action from his female costars, or else his fans will rebel and freak out... I know it's Asia, and things are different there, but COME ON?! It's ACTING.
Show Luo french Kisses with Alice Ceng, Wife fans accuse him of having an affair.

Stupid Taiwanese press, trying to make Ella look bad! I'm sure S.H.E can easily win awards with or without the presence of Twins.
S.H.E rely on Twins' absence to win awards? Ella gets angry

Qiao En and Ming Dao are doing a new drama!? MEEEEHHH! How did I not know about this?! Maybe it's just a rumor though, since I can't find any evidence... (Also, MingEn loves!!)
Chen Qiao En has Ming Dao; almost forgets about boyfriend

Awww the cuteness! I know Wu Zun is Ella's rumored boyfriend, but I had no idea Jay Chou and Alan Luo were rumored to be Selina and Hebe's boyfriends...
S.H.E holds Christmas party; fans imitate their rumoured boyfriends

Awesome Joe Cheng quote;
"Cosmo: So to you, what you like to do most for the environmental issues?
Joe: People around the world will wear nothing and will only eat vegetables! (Laughed)"
Joe Cheng’s sincere Q&A session

Oh wu Zun! You kill me your your adorableness! Wearing skirts, and joking around with Alan Luo (... about wearing skirts)! Adorable! It's kinda too bad that Taiwan doesn't have the crazy obsession with cross dressing that Japan does....
Wu Zun wears short skirt; invites Show Luo to compare femininity

I adore Ariel and Joe so much (I'm definitely an Arjoe fan), and they're so cute in this article. They also randomly talk about the US. And how Joe wants Christmas wishes from the leader of Mars....
Ariel Lin and Joe Cheng's Merry Christmas

Yay Extravagant Challenge!! And they're just WANTING us to suffer now, with the teasing that the second male lead is ALMOST confirmed! I'm dying to see who will play Shou!
Jerry Yan's new drama 'Extravagant Challenge' ; Director Niu says filming will begin soon

ANNNNNDDD Done!

OMG *DIES*!!!

There is going to be a taiwanese drama based on Skip Beat!!!!!! *dies again*!!

Not only that, but Ariel Lin (who is one of my favorite taiwanese actresses EVER) is going to play Kyoko, and Jerry Yan (JERRY YAN!!!) is going to play Ren!!

I'm sooooo happy about the casting, particularly of Ariel. I think she is absolutely PERFECT for the role. As seen in ISWAK, she can totally play the dramatic mixed with the hilarious. Jerry Yan is a BIG surprise, actually. He doesn't do dramas that often, so I'm all excited he's going to be in this one!

I wonder who is going to play Sho... The drama was only announced on the 17th, so I'm guessing they haven't fully cast it yet. Still! I was reading how someone thought that Megan Lai should play Kanae. I actually think that would work really well! Mike would be awesome (AWESOME) in the Sho role, but he and Ariel don't work together, so it's a pipe dream. OR! Zai Zai!! That would be freaking awesome!! AWESOME. But it won't happen.

So originally I guess Joe Cheng was going to be in the drama... but I guess he quit. I'm actually kinda glad. He and Ariel do a lot of things together (they're cute together, but I like to see to see some variety).

Yeah, I'm flipping out a little bit. It's just very serendipitous, really. I started reading the manga a week or so ago, and started watching the anime a few days ago.

So exciting!!

And randomly, I wonder when Boys Before Flowers (korean Hana Yori Dango) is going to air. It's supposed to start sometime in December... well, guess what... December is tomorrow. I'm really looking forward to it. I'm probably going to watch it as it airs (or rather, as it's subbed... I can't understand a whit of korean), because it's exciting!

I'm also downloading the live action movie of Love Com. Noone is seeding though, which sucks balls. It's only at like, 12.7%

I'm STILL at work. Because apparently my computer doesn't want to play Bull Fighting, I decided to rewatch some of Love Contract. Rewatching it makes me realise just how goddamn much I love it

Love Contract: Ending anaylsis! Also, comparisons to Summer Snow and Honey and Clover, and the differences between different asian countries dramas )

Now that I'm done analysing dramas (I can't help it, I analyse everything. Incidentally, why I'm so damn good at sorting out meaning from poetry, and film... and stuff. That, and I think in metaphors)...

By the time I get out of here, I'll have spent nearly 11 hours at this place. Gah! And dear God is it cold here....

OMG do I love Chinese rap and metal! I especially like when they combine.

And geez, can the S.H.E. girls sing! Hebe and Selina have really nice voices, but Ella's voice is the best. It's really lovely! I wish I could sing (well). BTW, Ella is the Mizuki character in the taiwanese Hana Kimi.

Lisa-> I totally wrote a response to your email yesterday, but lucky me, accidentally deleted it. And now I like, don't have the energy to rewrite it! I'll respond... eventually!
uisceros: (Default)
I love Mike He with all of my heart, but DAMN is Lee Wei ridculously amazing in Bull Fighting.
Bull fighting )

And as if I needed ANOTHER drama to watch, I totally downloaded and started watching Love Storm (I just can't stay away from the F4... Plus, it's what I was looking for; an older twdrama!)
Love Storm )

Speaking of, funniest shit ever; Jun Can and Chuan Yi's band, Comic Boyz, did a taiwanese version of The Ketchup Song. Yes, the ketchup song.
Hey Hah! Oh, Taiwanese boy bands. You slay me with your adorable cluelessness.

HOLY SHIT!!! Figaro Ceng was in the band too!! OMG! Figaro was cute in DBY, but totally amazingly awesome in They Kiss Again. As much as I loved Zhi Shu, I probably would have dumped his ass for Qi Tai if I were Xiang Qin.

Oh, weird. It just occured to me that Zhang Yong Zheng and Cyndi Chaw are in Bull Fighting together. They played Zhi Shu's parents in ISWAK/TKA. I love that everyone is connected in twdramas. I love recognising random people. It makes me happy.... as I've stated many time before.

In other, non drama related news, I hit myself in the back with the car door yesterday (don't ask how it's possible... it just is, believe me), and it really hurts.

And I've consumed a lot more candy corn than you would have ever thought possible. Weird ass candy corn craving.

Tomorrow I have a FUN day ahead of me, involving working for many many hours on the weekend. Luckily, I CAN bring my dramas to watch. I'll just have to remember to burn them to disc...

Drama/Anime List update 12Sep08 )

Added one or two, and updated some.

The Bull Fighting OST is pretty cool! I'll have to remember to download it at some point!
uisceros: (Default)
Am watching first kiss. I'm not sure if I like it or not yet. I'm also exhausted, and might just go to sleep super early.

Also, I seem to be going through a tiny bit of Mike He withdrawl... so I might download Bull Fighting at some point, even though it wasn't on my list. I could download Marry Me, but I'm not sure I'm down with the premise. Then again, I wasn't really into the premise for Devil Beside You or Why Why Love either, and I really enjoyed both of them. I wish Rainie, Mike, and Kingone would do another drama together. They're so great together! I wish Ariel and Mike would do another one together too, but that's wishful thinking.

BTW, Lisa, did you ever watch anymore of ISWAK? Isn't the opening/commercial insert song kinda hilarious. I love the chinese rap! And I totally have the ISWAK OST.... because I'm a dork.

And apparently even though Meteor Garden is like, the most popular Taiwanese drama EVER, it's like, impossible to find. EHHH.
uisceros: (Default)
I have my internet back again. Yay! Who knows how long it will last though. Stupid router.

I finally finished Why Why Love. As much as I love (and am obsessed with....) Mike He, why can't Kingone get a little love?! It was like this in Devil Beside You too. Something I've noticed in Taiwanese dramas; the good guys NEVER get the girl. Ever. At least in any of the ones I've seen (granted I've only seen... um... five, but still). So yeah, next is First Kiss.

Today at work we found out that we have a surprise inspection from the FDA. Fun. Which means that I get to freak out about stuff tomorrow. It really does seem like my work is incessantly never ending. I can't catch a break.

I am taking next friday and the following monday off though, so that should help.

Meh! It's 12, but I so don't want to sleep (despite being exhausted).

And Goong still hates me. Damn 95.7%!

Just Watched: Why Why Love
Watching now: Nothing...
Watching Next: First Kiss

So that drama just kicked my ass. And the end was weird and sad... Like, Mei Li Ahyi died, then Xiao Yun and Miki-san left, then Xiao Bai died, then Xiao Feng and Ah Ken died, and then everyone else died! What's with the dying?! I mean, yeah, they're in heaven and stuff, but man... Poor Xiao Bai...

And again I understand noone knows what the hell I'm talking about, but it doesn't matter. It's my blog, damn it! I need something funny and cute to watch now. I've had my share of horribly dramatic things for the moment. I love the Taiwanese dramas, but they ARE pretty dramatic. I think next I really WILL watch Summer Snow. And then who knows. Probably another japanese one. But, knowing me, I'm download Why Why Love... because I love Mike He.
uisceros: (Default)
It kinda saddens me when people that I adore on shows don't get along in real life. They're really shattering the image there.

Case in point; Mike He and Ariel Lin. They're my two favorite Taiwanese actors, and they are GREAT in Love Contract, but I guess they don't really get along (well, the word is out on that... either they're completely in love, or hate each other... noone knows, apparently).

I love Ariel Lin. She's so cute, and a FABULOUS actress. After seeing her in ISWAK, I had one image of her, but then I watched Love Contract, and got a totally different one. She's versatile! Same with Mike... he was so different in Love Contract than he was in Devil Beside You!

I'm probably making NO SENSE to anyone, since noone else I know watched Taiwanese dramas... oh well. You should. Damn it.

I'm still on the Ariel/Joe bandwagon though, because it's sooooo obvious that Joe loves Ariel. And yes, I am engaging in one of the favorite pastimes of the Taiwanese (from my limited experience).... shipping real people!
