My Drama Boyfriends :D

I decided to follow the rest of my peeps, and do my top 12 drama boyfriend list.

In response to [livejournal.com profile] cranberrysheep's Drama Boyfriend Playoffs, I listed my top 12 (well, technically it was 13, but who's counting) ideal drama boyfriends. And then [livejournal.com profile] ambergold and [livejournal.com profile] princess_dexter made more detailed posts, and well, I decided to as well!

And because I wanted pictures (and since a lot of my choices are from dramas I watched ages ago, when I didn't know how to screencap) I didn't have any ready to use caps, so I spent awhile going through my big ol' folder of drama discs. But this also meant I spent awhile rewatching my favorite parts of various dramas. But I'll get to that later.

Amusingly about half are from twdramas. Apparently I still love me some Taiwanese men after all ;P. Oddly, a lot of my choices are from unpopular dramas as well. And I totally have actor repeat offenders (three of them, actually!)

Anyway, list! (Note, the frst 5 aren't really in any concrete order. I love them all too much to choose between them)

More Stand Up!!

OMG love this show so far. TOTALLY adorable. The boys are utter geeks, and I just want to squish them to me, because they're too cute. 很可愛!!

I'm being flailing about Yamapi. He's much too adorable for words in this show. Never mind the fact that he was only around 17/18 during filming. I was 19 then, thus it isn't creepy. Besides, as long as he's not baby!Yamapi (see IWGP), then all is good! Anyway, he's adorable and I love him.

Yamapi and Hiroki hitting on statues. Speaking of! I saw something similar to that in Seoul.

More caps )

So, I'm on episode 8 right now. I should finish it today or tomorrow. And then I might start watching a LOT of Christmas movies, because despite the snow, it doesn't feel Christmas-ey yet.

Stand Up!!

So on my quest to find a drama to watch, I downloaded four possible choices: Kisarazu Cat's Eye, Stand Up!!, The Vineyard Man, and TRICK.

I watched one episode of Kisarazu Cat's Eye, and quite enjoyed it. It is filled with actors I already know (Okada from V6! Sho from Arashi! TakaC! Masa from IWGP! [yes, I know that's not his real name] Takeru from Atadan! [also not his real name, but whatevs] Narimiya Hiroki!), so that makes life easier in general. I'm also highly amused by it all.

I skimmed The Vineyard Man, and I already know I'll like it. I just, apparently, really need a shorter drama right now. But OMG is Yoon Eun Hye adorbs.

I tried TRICK, but the copy I found is just bad quality. Either I'll have to suck it up, or find a better copy. Either way, it's not happening now.

And then I watched Stand Up!!. I've known about it for awhile, but never got around to watching it (I almost always watch strong romances, which is why some things, even if they're good, or classic, get pushed aside). Now it has two of my favorite jdrama actors in the world in it: Shun and Yamapi. Lisa always tried to get me to watch it by bringing that fact up time and again (what can I say, I'm easy... give me pretty pretty boys, and I'm good). Course Pi was only 16 in this, but who's counting? (And I'm only 16 months older than him)

Anyway, I'm enjoying it. I'm only on episode 3 (I'm currently on a strange Inuyasha fanfic binge which is dividing my time... Anyone know any good stories?), but it's pretty epic so far. I'm amused by how they're all such dorks. Like Pi's a train otaku, Shun can't talk to girls without comparing them to his soccer ball, Hiroki wants to see panties all the time, and Nino's just a geek. AND PI'S TEETH! *cries*

I know that the swastika is a Buddhist symbol. I lived in Asia for 4 months, I saw it a lot. But still, every time I see it I get that nervous laugh you get when someone says something really inappropriate, but you can't say anything... Yeah. Oh, swastika... why you gotta mess me up?

Also, DORKS

Crows Zero

I laughed 'till I cried, and then I laughed some more.

BEST MOVIE EVER.

Though I must say, when Taki and Shun were fighting, I was very conflicted. I kept yelling "Taki!! No, Shun! No, Taki!! SHUN! TAKI!"
(But truthfully I was rooting just a bit more for Taki)

I took a ton of caps, and will probably post some of them later. But for now I leave you with this piece of remarkable cinematography. Love the gel they used to get the color.

Happy Birthday Lisa!!

Today is my bestest friend in the whole world [livejournal.com profile] sn0tcat's birthday! And nothing says I love you more than a LJ post with sparkly text.

Welcome to the quarter-centenarian club! I'll have to prepare the customary giftbasket.

Remember how when we were younger it was cool that I was the older one, and I think I remember you telling me that it wouldn't be so cool when we were 70? Yeah, it's not cool NOW.

And because Lisa is my compatriot in Taki-love, have a picture of Taki from the Crows Zero II promotions!

Densha Otoko; finished!

As part of my "finally watch stuff that I've been putting off forever" resolution, I finished Densha Otoko! I figured I'd start small, and I only had 2 episodes left on that one.

I adored it. I can't say it's a favorite, but it was super sweet, and well done. Hermes-san has to be the most understanding and sweet heroine ever. She accepted Densha despite him being a total dork. I mean, he was an amazing guy, but it's hard to get past first impressions. I liked it a lot better than the movie, probably because I think the movie was miscast. Like, I do think he's a good actor, but there is no way in hell Yamada Takayuki would not have girls mobbing him even if he was dressed horribly. And while I do think Nakatani Miki is pretty, she's not the drop-dead gorgeous Hermes-san is supposed to be. Plus, you know, Shun-kun was in the drama. I do love Eita, but in this case, Shun wins.

Anyway, caps!

I love when they do this, showing all the A channel users!

So I make no secret of the fact that I'm a shopaholic. I've scaled back a lot in the last 6 months or so, but I still shop a lot.

Anyway, today I was bored, so I dropped by my favorite Japanese shopping plaza. I was in the grocery/video store (yes, it's a combo. Unfortunately basically none of the videos are subbed), looking at magazines. I saw one, and was like "well, I know about half of the people on the cover. Naturally I must buy it!"... so I did. And now I have this huge ass lovely Japanese magazine. But I AM glad I got it (despite it being expensive as all hell). Because it has a huge feature on Mei-chan no Shitsuji, and also one on Shun-kun.

So I scanned a few pics from it.

large pictures! )

I then went to the Japanese gift shop, and bought some more stuff, including a piece of vintage kimono.

So yes. Things. Meh! Suddenly ridiculously tired, and must sleep ASAP.

Recent news stories from Korea and Taiwan

I should just stay away from the asianfanatics news section. I always end up spending LOADS of time on there... some current news stories that interested me (Taiwanese and Korean);

Stories about Vanness Wu, Big Bang, Wu Zun, Jiro Wang, Lee Min Ho, hot boy lists, Chinese F4, Kim Bum, Superstar Express, Rainie, and Zai Zai )

Also, the cast of BBF must be cursed when it comes to car accidents. Bummie's gotten in two already, Kim Hyun Joong and Kim Joon each had one on the same day, Lee Min Ho was previously injured (badly) from a car accident, and just today Koo Sun Hye had a car accident! Thankfully in most cases, the injuries were non existent or minor (save for Min Ho's). But it makes me wonder, are car accidents in Korea THAT prevalent? I know Taiwan is notorious for car accidents (that's why a lot of times deaths in dramas are due to car accidents), but I didn't know Korea was as well. And really, shouldn't they be hiring better drivers to escort these major stars?

OMG Shun-kun IS ACTUALLY TALKING (In Densha Otoko)! I was so excited I had to stop everything and fangirl about it/him.

I'm still in the middle of the episode, but.... Random Shun picture!

In the last episode (and 1/3rd of this episode) I've taken 88 screenshots of Shun alone. Out of 124 total screenshots for the episode + 1/3. I freaking LOVE him.

I'm really annoyed at my stupid work computer. It has issues with flash (i.e. it needs a new version), but we're not allowed to install stuff, so I can't get it. That means that whenever a page with flash comes up, my internet dies painfully.

Anyway, someone on my flist (probably an icon comm) has something flash related posted, so I can't view my flist at all. It sucks. Stupid ass work computer.

I'm at a lag period in my drama watching. This usually happens. I get about 1/3rd of the way through a drama, and I get bored and stop watching. Sometimes I go right back, sometimes I don't watch for months. I'm at that point with Densha Otoko and Goong. I keep wanting to start new stuff too.

But yeah, I'm determined to finish Densha Otoko soon. I do like it a lot, plus Shun-kun is there, so there's always that incentive.

Densha Otoko episode 3

I've decided to keep watching Densha Otoko for now. I just finished episode 3, and since there's only 11 of them total, I'm about a quarter of the way done anyhow. I'm enjoying it quite a bit.

I'm going to do another mini liveblog. A little more coherent than the last one. I'm also going to post my #17 tonight.

More on Densha Otoko, and Shun-kun.

I really like Densha Otoko so far. It's amazingly adorable. Ito Atsushi is perfect as Densha Otoko Tsuyoshi-kun. He's SO amazingly dorky, it's almost painful. But then he got a makeover, and actually looks pretty cute now. He's still wicked short though (9cm shorter than Ito Misaki, 10cm shorter than me!).

Anyway, Tsuyoshi-kun goes from this;

To this;

Not bad, eh?

I managed to find Summer's Tail in DDL!! It's on rapidshare, so it's taking forever (I subscribe to megupload, but not rapidshare, that would be a bit much). But yay! I managed to find it!

I also downloaded Meteor Rain, and Waterboys.

And I'm going to download Densha Otoko (the drama, not the movie, although it was the movie I wanted). SHUUUUUNNNNN-KUUUNNN! It's been a long while since I've seen a drama with Shun (last was Gokusen, back in December). I was getting Shun withdrawl!

In related news, I'm really fucking pissed at avistaz. I JUST found the damn site, and they have a lot of Asian movies (which are, apparently my new thing), but they've closed down registration, so basically they're tempting me with their movies, and then being like "Oh no, you can look at them, but you can't download them!"... I think I know what a dude at a strip club feels like...

When listening to the English version of Lies (거짓말), I ALWAYS sing the chorus in Korean... When I listen to Last Farewell (마지막 인사), I always sing it in English. Way to confuse the hell out of me, Big Bang.

ETA: Three and a half hours later, Summer's Tail is finally finished. Goddamn rapidshare.

I mentioned how much I liked Boys Before Flowers... well I just read a recap of episode 2 (care of dramabeans), and it looks so awesome! The descriptions make me love Jun Pyo (Domyoji) sooo much. He's so stupid it's adorable!

Koizora )

I do plan on writing my thoughts on HYD Final tonight, but see, the notes I take are fairly interesting. I had the same issue when I did the Love Contract summaries. Trying to decipher them is always fun.

Some examples (verbatim);
"Akira = awesome, guns, & things blowing up!"
"in nevada, big ass trucker"
"hotel guy is hot"
"Hotel owner K is takano?"
" 'Bang!' "
"OMG D in hotel room...."
"Rui is adorable & tall"
"auctioneer sucks!"

Boys Before Flowers, episode 1 (squee!)

I hate watching dramas that are streamed. The quality is gross, and I always forget that they're not in VLC, and try to pause them using the space bar (yes, I know this works on online videos too, but I always somehow screw it up, and bad things happen).

I'm willing to suffer for Boys Before Flowers, though.

Observations;

episode 1 )
- Why do they always say "fighting!", it's cute and all, but WHY?!
more... )
- Mmm. Joon Pyo is hot. I approve.
- Oh God, Rui.
- The blonde, the violin, the white suit. I'm in love (again). Whether the character be Rui, Lei, or Ji Hoo... I'll always love him.
...and more )
- OMG Rui-gasm! Kim Hyun Joong totally IS acting like Shun-kun! It's weird... but I like it. And dear God is that boy fine. It's too bad he's 2 1/2 years younger than. Not that that's terribly weird. I wish I were 2 1/2 years younger than I am now. Mmmmm 22.
- Ginger has an amusing american accent when she speaks english. It's like she learned how to speak english by listening to "Valley Girl" over and over and over again (btw, that's a Zappa reference, not the Nic Cage film)
...and even more )
- HAHAHA Domyoji! I love him so much! He's so scary at first, but he's a total dork!
- Jan Di is super awesome. They just egged and floured her, and she's thinking of the pancakes those eggs and flour could have made.
...and yet some more )

Well that ended rather abruptly... Are they really airing it every night? Oh, no, only Monday and Tuesday. That's kinda a weird schedule. Whatever.

So yes, I highly enjoyed it (as if I WOULDN'T enjoy it).
summary of my thoughts )

You know, I can't seem to remember Meteor Garden all that well. Either that, or I'm getting it REALLY confused with HYD...a rewatch is needed.

*sigh* Exhausted. I stay up too late watching dramas. It's supposed to snow a fair amount tonight, and God I hope I don't have work tomorrow *wishes*!

And I know I said I was going to post my HYD Final review today, unfortunately I forgot my work computer at my house, so I couldn't type it up during the day. Sooo it'll be later on. Soon though.

Today, outside of my workplace, there are protestors. No shit. I work for a pharmecutical company, so it's not like it's unheard of, but it's still pretty funny. They have a gigantic blow up rat... I'm not sure what they're protesting, but if they're against animal testing, I might as well join them out there. I HATE working for a company that tests on animals (granted, we're probably one of the lesser offenders). Vivisection is one of, if not the things I hate most in the world. I hate it less when it's done for medical reasons, but I still hate it. Regardless, it's kinda funny to see them. I want to take pictures, and might if given the chance.

I started two new dramas last night. First off, Boys Before Flowers. It's actually not subbed yet, so I just watched a good portion of it just in Korean. It was... educational. The opening was interesting, with a dude getting harassed, and about to commit suicide by jumping off a roof (Kinda sterotypically Korean, huh? I've heard the Korean jumping off the roof thing from other Asian sources...), and then "Tsukushi" saving him. From what I can tell, I'm really going to like the Tsukushi character.

Dramabeans wrote a review that the guy who plays "Rui" was kinda just imitating Oguri Shun, which upon first glance, yeah, he really does look like he's acting like him. He has the same blond hair/hairstyle, the same voilin thing, and he's even wearing all white. I only saw one scene with him, but it was kinda jarring. And "Domyoji's" entrance really was pretty cool. His hair is also a lot better than either Jerry or Jun's were.

I also started watching a jdrama, Koizora, which I'm pretty sure [livejournal.com profile] sn0tcat told me about previously... I like it so far, but it's going to be sad. Luckily it's only 6 episodes, so the sadness won't be horrible prolonged. I don't actually find the main dude (Seto Koji) attractive at all, but I'm drawn to his blonde hair. What can I say... I'm easy. Mizusawa Elena, on the other hand, is one of the prettiest girls I've ever seen in my life (she's only 16!!!).

The ending of HYD rocked my socks

I'm probably going to write my review of the HYD movie tomorrow (during work! Yay for slacking off!), and do the screencaps tomorrow night. I'm a little too tired for the full undertaking tonight.

That being said, three things;

1. I adore Rui with all my heart. He's one of the best characters ever, and is one of the only ones who can compete with Kei-kun for my heart (you know, if they existed). Seriously, ALL the Rui scenes made me inordinately happy. It also reminded me just how freaking much I love Oguri Shun. He was my first drama crush. I still blame the blonde..
2. That being said, Domyoji and Tsukushi are perfect together. More then perfect, they're destined. I always had difficulties with the manga and the dramas, because I love Rui so much, and naturally want him to be happy (in the anime this was never an issue. In fact, I didn't much like Rui in the anime... he ended up with Shizuka anyway). But despite all this, I can't deny that Domyoji and Tsukushi belong together.
3. It ended very nicely. It was not true to the manga ending at all, but whatever. I kinda don't care at this point. I like how they portrayed Soujiro and Yuuki at the ending. It was terribly cute. I felt bad for Rui though. Oh, that damn character breaks my heart. But I had to share this, because I thought it was an adorable ending, the last scene.

The last scene, the wedding picture, which transforms into a manga version. It's obviously drawn by Kamio Yoko too, which makes it all the more special. I nearly started crying when I saw it. It was perfect. The most amazing, perfect ending to an amazing story.

I can't satisfactorily convey just how happy this movie made me. I've had limited experience with japanese movies, and was previously disappointed (I'm looking at you, Lovely Complex), so to have this one exceed my expectations was fabulous. I'm significantly tougher on movies than I am on dramas (I think this is because I've studied film theory. If I were ever to get another bachelors degree, it would be in film studies), so yeah, just happiness all around!

Oh, speaking of, wiki just told me this; "Also, in one of the first volumes of Cat Street, Yoko Kamio admitted that she planned to start a sequel to Hana Yori Dango in the near future." I hope it's true. As much as I'd like to think that I'd be satisfied with things ending as they are, I want more, damn it. *greedy*

I bought the 100 userpic thing today. I currently have 55. 8 of those are of Ikuta Toma (more than of anyone else)... I'm not exactly sure why... I mean, I love him and everything, but I love Zai Zai more, and I only have 4 of him. Whatever.
